Competent, it must be nice to run hounds from sunup to sunset 5 days a week. As for me well I have a job and dont have that luxary. But that pup you just wanted to hammer on is 6 months old and can jump and run her own rabbit. And that didnt come from sitting on the couch, but it seems to me you have alot of time to be posting here from your couch. As far as I am concerned, beagles are meant to run game to the gun and thats what marks dogs do. I just dont agree with hammering on someones dogs, that can get ugly quick. But you do know all, I think. Kind of a tough read

Harry, as i found out a year ago on a certain topic, a lot of these guys here cant handle the truth. The truth hurts their feelings and they get mad and abusive. You comment the wrong way on a topic to them and they cant come back with facts for a rebuttal they just cast stones at ya.

Underdog, its not a video ya wanna see when all ya get to see is a hound or hounds fly across a road in hot pursuit and then you may not see them for a 1/2 hour or more again cuz the rabbit is running for its life. The slow hounds are a made for TV event, because you can video the whole race without hardly moving.

Yet another SELF-PROCLAIMED CHURCH GOER, tries to belittle others. Do you actually listen when you go to church or are you just the cook?

Although I run a different style of dog, I would be very disappointed if Mark did not share his videos. I have watched a lot of them and appreciate his dogs and their style. These dogs are obviously good at what they do and their owner likes them. That is all that matters.

I would guess that UBGF would be the best fit, but it has been a while since I attended any of their trials. I think they would be a little too slow for ARHA Progressive Pack. Mark, good luck finding a place to compete with your hounds. Keep posting your videos!

Sonofagun, A fight ! Anyhow, I am not going to get in it as I don't have the stomach for such things. I just noticed as I breezed through the post that some kind of think Mark may be new to this trialing thing and is looking for a trial that his dogs would be a fit for. I think he has been around long enough to know where to go and where not to go, he wasn't looking for a place to compete, if I read correctly, he was looking for comments on his dogs both good or bad and a fight broke out, and he isn't even in it, It appears that he doesn't take negative comments about his hounds personal so why should any of us do so! Why can't we all just get along?

Your right fast, Harry I am sorry I put you down, God probably is frowning down on me. I have my short comings just like anyone else, will pray that I become better. But like Jesus, he stood up for his weaker ppl. Not calling Mark weak by any means, you know what I mean. When I feel like a Beagler hating on another mans dogs I feel a need to stand up for them. Am I wrong for doing this. My understanding of a houndsman is a person who accepts all style of dogs. I do go over board and throw stones at others and I apologize for that.

Around 25 years ago I went to my first Brace AKC trial and seen first hand what walkie talkie dogs were.A hold lot slower tham marks dogs are.I was a young rabbit hunter and the faster the dogs were the better I like them.But at the trial that day I seen these old men two in wheel chairs and most just could walk.These men in there eyes still wanted to see hound work and love it.I had a great time that day with these old people I know most of them or all have past away now.One of the nices club house dog boxes trucks and people from every state.There was people there my age grandson or girl or son to help out.I remember seeing a rabbit and they said.Earl mark that rabbit.and seeing these two old men coming with there dogs on the lease and it look like the dogs were going to pull them over.But to look back now even it want my kind of dog.I wish I was there more to help out.One of these days we all are going to get old and want not only to hear the dogs we want to see.Its not all in killing the rabbit.If it is I would say I can kill more rabbits than most of the rabbit hunters out there and don t have to have a dog.I m not in it to kill rabbits.The love of the rabbit,the dog and another day god has giving us.Something I want never forget that day, being with people that love the same thing I love.A Beagle.

Faster dogs don't circle rabbits as FAST as SLOWER dogs. Yep, that is how I read it.

If you read the history of beagles they were breed many different ways since the 1800`s.They were breed to run fast and catch for old guys on horses.They were bred to run the track back to the gun.Bred for shows.So show me the rules where the only real hound is one that runs to catch.I can not stand a fast hound but do enjoy watching them and had them and know guys that own them.Mark eats sleeps beagles.There are so many different style of hounds that i don`t think anyone is going to breed them out of exsistance. Run what you like and feed what you like.We run good med speed hounds in brier infested country and we kill a bunch of rabbits with them.They cover some ground in open areas also.Any hound can run a 100 yard straight line in the open fast.
But get in the thick stuff and they really shine.Just my opinion.I like hounds that run the sent with good foot but not to fast.
The deer hunters were so impressed with our hounds they said they will never invite the guys with the run to catch hounds they hunted with in the past.They killed way more rabbits with our med speed hounds in 2 years than they ever did with the fast run to catch hounds.
