Re: Green Bay Hounds
I haven't saw a lot of green bay bred dogs go but I personally have really liked what I have saw so far. They might be a step slower than I'm accustomed to but they run with so much more control and smoothness I love there style. A friend crossed his turbo by turbo female on walk on and we r loving the pups. Chuck prather also has a couple real nice butkus males. I believe they are crossed out of a turbo primetime bitch. I think anyone who runs dogs trial or is just a hunter would love to have these dogs crossed in there line they r rabbit running fools in all conditions from my limited experience. I also have seen good hunt some better than others but none real lazy but again I haven't saw a lot.
Re: Green Bay Hounds
heard a lot of people mention good hunt. what about their jumping ability? i have a grand pup off shooter and a bunch of line bred dingus stuff, after her first hunting season i will call her a rabbit jumping fool. she does a good job running in a pack and cleans up a lot. when she gets split off she is a little slower but very few checks.

Re: Green Bay Hounds
Boys iam still new all this,i do not to get to travel around to watch dogs and see what is out there.I do look at the trials and see who is winning also like to hear what people say on the board, not saying that is the right way,or wrong way. That is what i can do and afford at the time, trust me if i though i had the best and the money to back it up i would be at lot of trials, and buying the best hounds money can buy to suit me.Iam just one of those guys that does not like 2nd place, all or nothing. But them gb hounds have a nice track record, not saying alot of other hound do not have them to.Right now i have a couple speedy sprot hound in my kennl and 14" and a 12" and kill all the rabbits you want with them. But the 14" male is as fast of dog as i seen but has a hard time holding the line when scenting is bad.The 12" will run just as hard and harder and there as been no 15" dog out run her and she runs a good line.So for some of us all you can do is read the board and look at the wining dogs and hope for the best when you buy a pup or a older dogs.JMO

Chapkos shootum down tank
is the fastest biggest greenbay hound I have yet to see. ( not over either) He has ran down an cought rabbits in all conditions an in front of all kinds of people.
I still have yet to see henery hunter he is a 15 an was told he can move
Now I will say u got some good ones but,I dought they they big beat there big brother.
Dont mean to call u out but I bought many gb hound an none of them could catch game like tank. How offten dose max run them down?
The biggest male from the shooter/dinha cross.
WoW bad ass call out. It's really nice of you to invite Green Bay Hunt-Em-Up Max to your backyard for a competition against hank. Wish we can make it to enjoy a run with you. As for now, we would rather stay in the AKC fied trials. Bay de noc is not too far from where you are, if you needed help with gas money just come and I will help you with the gas money. If Hank is the real deal, there is no reason why he should not be there at bay de noc on sunday 15in male class. We will be there for 15in male class. See you there. Just come and enter Hank into the 15inch male and I will reimberse you for gas so it wont cost you a thing. Life's too short, come enjoy and watch some great hounds compete for the blue.

Talked to the man that owns paw king last night, hell of a nice guy he will give you all the info you need on him, because this page turned into a pissing match and nothing was said about gb hounds at all.Lets keep who has the best dogs out of this and just tell people what you know about them dogs. This is the kind of stuff i like to read, because i do not get to run around up and down the east coast to look at dogs.lebro wrote:this post was not near as informative as i had hoped. any one else have some insight.

Like it or leave it the Green Bay hounds are probably going to be around a while. Joe K. Did his homework and has produced winners! He then has no fear in letting his best go! That is confidence in your line if it ever existed, IMO.
The folks that have Green Bay enjoy Green Bay. They don't walk on water, but what hounds do? Get to the top level by going through Joe K. And you will be satisfied and have building blocks for use however you may chose.
Whether it be under the gun or in the trials they have done very, very well. I, personally have traveled as much as I can and have only seen one other line of hounds that will fill my wants. I have tried many, many hounds and bought the best of those lines that I could find. Many good hounds out there in all lines, no doubt about it. Green Bay fits my wants and Mr. Lowell Smith's Bud dogs fit my wants. You can call them both rabbit dogs for sure.
There is always an open invite to my home to see the hounds I have been fortunate enough to own thru Joe K. And Green Bay kennels. Take care and good running!

Re: Green Bay Hounds
To Chapko,
Don't be offended on my invitation. I understand that family, life, and health comes first. If we do meet down the road, I still going to shake your hand, drink, and eat with you. I respect all beagler who cherished the sport. I just want to see Tank
field champ.
Now to the question that was asked about green bay hounds. I want to thank GB for selling my family some of his best dogs. GB dogs that I see with my own eyes that are good dogs not just to me but to GB are Jifka, Max, Johna, and Remi. These dogs are fast, accurate, and consistent. I beagling for joy and not pride. No money is to be make but a lifetime of enjoyment. First class dogs don't come everyday. It was nice to know someone like Joe who is willing to let his best go and move on to the next best dog. Believe me that GB is not done, the best is yet to come and they are right now in his kennel. If you really want the best, Joe is very honest and says it like it is. I have never seen eli ran, but Johna was his littermate and Max is his sire. You won't go wrong to own or stud to a dog like eli, and I say that to a lot of guys who is looking for nose power a long time before eli made fc. I think majority of his wins are on those cold frosty morning. Good luck and hope you find a good GB hounds.
