Dogs that fast are really a problem.
You only have one dog in the race.
Friends do not like theirs running that far behind so after a while no one will run with you or rather your fast dog.
Its hard to get a pack of those , I had it once, but never again.
Even in a field trial the fast dog will be called running trash when its not, and be disqualified since the other dogs will try to keep uop and then drop out and start looking for anther rabbit.
Hard to let go of I know, sure a brag dog, but best to do just that. Good thing is many will buy it until they see the trouble it causes.

When my dog starts to catch too many rabbits, I tie a mini parachute on her tail like a dragster, that usually creates enough wind resistance to slow her down.

I don't need to ask your friends, sounds good to me....

Based on how I calculated it most dogs average about 4mph (Garmin) on track so that means he was almost 250 yards ahead of the pack when he caught it. I would say to catch that many rabbits he is probably running more around 8mph which put him just short of 500 yards, or 1/3 of a mile, ahead....that is some crazy stuff there....unreal.
Yeah ,He super nice. 18 in 3 months well it was 2 weeks from bein 4 months ,but thats not counting the rabbits lass year !!
*hes been catchin rabbits sence 8 months old.
-you'd come here and think he was juss a pet ,he will destroy you in the field ,&&nd loves to play !
tricks he knows right now are give you his paw ,set, lay ,beg, &&nd roll over !!!!!
I love him.

Honest question here.... I have watched 6 rabbits caught over the last week, then read this post boasting these hounds catching rabbit. My question is, "was the rabbit running????" I ask because I have witnessed some hounds catching rabbit over the last few weeks and my own this morning, and every single time the rabbits were hunkered down and the hounds run right up on em for the catch, lol just wondering if the running's been the same elsewhere.

Peyton's beagles,

Noticed the same thing here. My 3 yr old male, Jake, caught another one today. He jumped it about 10 ft from me, it crossed a road with him right on it's little furry butt. It hit the thickets ducking and dodging and still not gaining much ground. At about 50 yards he lost sight, but it was if he had become possessed!! LOL  It made it about another 40 yards with him trailing at mach 2 and he caught that rabbit about a hundred yards from me and carried it back to me. It was fun to see!! These hounds do give us all they have sometimes! The rabbits here in WV were sitting super tight today, I mean 2 ft off there nose jumps!! It is exciting for the hounds but bad for the rabbits. Good hunting to all!!

18 rabbits in 3 months is quite an accomplishment!!! The predator population must be way down in West Virginia!!! I know were I hunt/run nature has a way of taking care of the slow, dumb rabbits!!!

My Family owns a big strip ,its got our horses their horses and their cattle on it.
I want My hounds Big ,fast ,& straight leggs. and my horses the same .i dont wanna $500 horse or dog ,wen i can buy better for $2000.
But ,Anyway on the strip, 3 years ago we locked it up so only the family could go back their and they were chasin horses with four-wheelers. (stupid ppl) & were agreed on not GUN huntin "Period" !
but ,there are Mee ,My Dad ,& 6 other members that hunt (so thats 8 ppl all together,) and we could got back there 5 or 6 months ago and jump rabbit after rabbit ,and see rabbits go by you and then another and then the dogs are driven another way ,3 hour chases. Sonic came alone ,and i ran him for 4 months ,he runs to catch ,and runs with line control and speed. i ran him for 2 weeks before he could even run here ("b/c it's so thick") well Sonic gits used to the runnin and starts catch rabbit almost everytime i take him. he would make dogs quit ,that i loved an no money could buy ,he dont have to fight for the front ,he juss takes it. he's great that's all there is to say about SUPER SONIC !!!

That was the most confusing post I have ever read.

But on a side note my beagle is so good after we get done running she logs on to the board here and I tell her what to post and she does it with better grammar than I could do.
