Eddywilliams: people in my area who kill as many rabbits as you describe, sell them. A rabbit will bring $5 each unskinned. I know people who go to Drummond Island, spend a week, kill $200 hare or so and sell them. Honest truth. If you show them a cottontail running area, they will wipe it out. To each his own, I guess.

I've killed three this year.all to 7 month all pups that I've started will not shoot on jump they even have to circle at lest once. I will not kill over 7/8 and run 3/4 times a week.I'm like eddie you can't run a dead rabbit.Theres not a great abuntance of rabbits here and if I get a great run I won't kill it but go back often and hit the same rabbit .I am on a lease now all deer hunters and I'm the only rabbit hunter on there that I know of.I've killed one there and very rare not to go and get a race there.had one a couple of weeks ago run three hours in pouring rain I love it.I'm Ken Hensler and I'm Rabbit Running Fool.

Some places have good enough numbers that you can kill that many rabbits. Like out here on state ground you can pretty much slaughter them and not even begin to put a dent in the population. As long as they're not being wasted and the population isn't being hurt to bad then I see no problem with killin them. Like I said, we used to kill a ton of em, but I got burnt out and just don't eat that many anymore so now I only kill about 25-30 a year and most of thse are shot by buddies that want to eat em.

They won't let us run field trials on it. They're not real cooperative about that at Pigeon River Fish And Wildlife Area.

Have been trying to register on that other board, every time i do the little stupid thing at the bottom, they say it`s to short to long this and that.
They don`t give you a choice for asking what is it you need,I`ve tried about 7 times and i think this is a much better board.Don`t know what there problem is.

i had a spot for years til a farmer retired and sold out and i could no longer get permission for that we would shoot 80+ rabbits each season out of just that spot(60 or so acres). hunted that spot for over 12 years with relatives and the more we shot, the more rabbits that were there. maybe we just have a good area around here. the reason i got into beagles was so i could go have a fun day of shooting rabbits. over the years i have enjoyed running and training as much as anyone, but i have always been a gun hunter first.

to each their own... if you only run, thats fine and a great joy, but keep your mouths shut when someone legally shoots their limits as much as they can. go hassle the antihunters not someone who is just enjoying their gundogs and likes to show some pics. just my opinion and this post is not directed at anyone inparticular... so go enjoy your dogs anyway you like and respect others rights to do so also.

I've got a little different question but still kind of the same................

How many of you guys WOULD NOT shoot a rabbit...............ever??? AND, how many of you think others shouldn't be shooting any rabbits either???

And I don't mean anything other than you just plain won't shoot any for whatever your own personal reason is. This subject is plain and simple to me...........do what the law allows in your area.............do it ethically and honorably on land that you have permission to be on whether that be public or private. You have to make your own decisions about whether you take numbers that allow the land and reproduction to sustain a good population..............not someone looking at a picture of a tailgate full of rabbits that someone else shot and then complain about it. I had a spot kind of like blackdirt was talking about. We hunted it for 3 years and could shoot around 75 rabbits a year off of this spot and there were plenty the following year. And the kicker is this spot was less than 20 acres!!! Then a couple of years ago the farmer that owns it cleared it to make his corn/soybean field bigger. :( So who is the evil person here???? us or him??? Neither if you ask me..........it's his land to do with what he wants as much as I hated to see it go. There are some areas that can't take a whole lot of hunting but it's the lack of habitat that causes that. Other areas you can't kill enough to make a difference...........again the habitat.
