A general forum for the discussion of hunting with beagles, guns, clothing and other equipment and just talking dawgs! (Tall tales on hunting allowed, but remember, first liar doesn't stand a chance)
yeah thats what i am a hater!!!!!!!! u have no clue what i am about,
Whoa there, don't believe I called anyone in particular a hater-it was just a generalized term. Someone must be feeling guilty.
I should not have posted on this thread at all but I just get sick of seeing people's posts replied to with sarcasm and criticism.
No one is a hater we just respect the sport and dont under stand why so many half to limit out to feel satisfied or 2 or 3 hunters together limit out ,boys that isa lot of rabbits month by month and its hard to recoup the numbers .The fella i spoke about earlier in this post and i have a lot of private ground i have seen the dogs running a rabbit and him be standing in 1 spotand kill 5 rabbits that were just sneaking out not even the rabbit the dogs were running this place was a bundant with rabbits now you can barely jump 2 where he has snuck back in there and slaughtered them by jump shooting and walking and jumping them to another and shooting them without the dogs even running them .You fellas that keep saying if itsnot against the law then do it are in the same class you just dont get it ,there is no sport in this style of hunting and you hunters while more power to ya arent the back bone its us hunter trialers that are out there year round pounding dogs and stocking rabbits in certain areas cuting paths ,piling brush up so the rabbits have cover going gun hunting and running 6 and harvesting 1 (right pike ridge ) while you guys put your hounds up till its kill time again to each his own but have you heard of GLUTTONY !!!!!!!THE FAST ONE

We personally never jump shoot and really could care less how many (if any) rabbits are killed. I'd much prefer a nice long run to a rabbit in the bag (though both isn't bad ) My point is that the condescending and holier than thou attitudes can get a little old.
you hunters while more power to ya arent the back bone its us hunter trialers that are out there year round pounding dogs and stocking rabbits in certain areas cuting paths ,piling brush up so the rabbits have cover going gun hunting and running 6 and harvesting 1
Our kennel is strictly a hunting beagle kennel. We work swing shifts so for right now trials are not an option for us. We run rabbits year round. We own land that is managed for the express purpose of running rabbits. When we do hunt during season we usually take young/first time hunters and feel very pleased when they get to kill some rabbits in front of our dogs. Most of the time we carry cameras and not guns and hunt almost exclusively on land owned by us or friends of ours. I'm not sure that it is just you hunter/trialers that are the backbone of the sport LOL!! I can see both sides of the coin and if we hunted public land more often I may tend to become more annoyed with those that were out for the kill alone.
By the way, none of us (or anyone we've hunted with) has limited out for a few years. Wouldn't have thought that was a thing to brag about until this thread came about!
Bottomline: Can't we all just get along?
When did posting pictures of our dogs and some teenagers and some rabbits we killed on a good hunt mean they were jump shot? You dont have to look at the post or the pictures. Im proud of my kids and the kids that hunt with us and im proud of my dogs. One thing is for sure, we sure work for the rabbits we kill, just ask those who go with us!!! If it offends you for me to post pics of my kids, other kids, our dogs and theres and some rabbits we harvested, then i guess just dont click on the post. I dont post them to brag or make it look like we are game hogs. I love to rabbit hunt and so do those who go with us and i dont advocate jump shooting although i have brush pile hunted in the past when i did just that, especially when i was young. Joeyman, keep hunting and running those beagles, you have nice looking ones. jon cornett
I know people that will kill 50+ rabbits (which is alright by me if that's what they want to do) in my area and then complain because I like to run at night "Making them rabbits hole up" I guess . When hunting or running I think we should do as we please , as long as no one gets hurt , no laws are broken , everything we kill is eaten if at all possible and the PEOPLE you're hunting WITH are not offended by your action . I also think we have some of the stupidest arguments on this board almost always from someone sticking thier nose where it doesn't belong . Just like I'm doing right now
ps. I'd say some areas are so overpopulated that more rabbits need to be killed or disease would possibly set in . I went running tonight in the same "location"/strip that there was probably upward of 1,000 rabbit ? harvested and guess what there's still plenty left to run .

Enough of this talk about killing too many rabbits... it's time to go hunting.
Beleive me, I love to hunt and I kill a few here and there. Everyone has the right to do as they wish within the confines of the law. Go for it but I respect those I hunt with and generally feel the same as they do. Don't mind shooting several in a long hunt with 3 or 4 guys. Admittedly, I cringe a little when I see guys posting where they killed a dozen or their tailgate are full of dead rabbits blown to hell. But I digress, kill what you want. I am not hating anyone and repect the right of others to differ on this. As for me, I am a fun runner first then a hunter when it concerns beagles. I run year around.
Off to meet the boys in southern Ohio for a hunting trip. Getting excited already. Maybe I will get lucky and shoot my one rabbit again today. This thread has inpired me, think I might shoot two today.

I get the gitters every time I hunt with my beagles or every time during the summer I run my beagles. I am like a freshmen school girl that just been asked to go to prom with a senior, when my dogs open up on the rabbit, even when its hunting situation or just running in the summer. For some odd reason I still shout out rabbit even though I'm by myself. I love to hunt with my hounds and run with my hounds. Some people don't even want to hunt with me cause my excitment for the chase. I do perfer a long run like anyone else. Heck this year I have went without my gun 5 times cause I just wanted to see them run. Usually when I don't bring my gun I see tons of rabbits.
Going hunting right now with my dad. Going to let the old man shoot this time, he can't hit the broadside of a barn lol, just like his son... Will handle the dogs.

Good Luck!!
Thanks Mr. Harner. I get excited too and love to hunt!
Had a great time today hunting with Brian Vinson, Paul Neel and another gentleman that I can't remember his name. We had a blast. I was one for two but the rabbit I shot was huge. We had some great runs today. Thanks again Brian for having me down. Good luck with the new baby coming soon.
Can't wait to do it again

i believe in the fact to leave some for another day....it gets pretty bad to post a good hunt on here and then be scared to say where in fear of someone hitting that place until it is plum hunted out...me personally i would rather just hear the hounds pound one out but i will take my limit on occasion nothing wrong with that..but dont continue to gun the same spot until there is nothing left ..there are guys like that around me here and that is a shame...leave some to run another day..and by all means if you are gonna shoot them EAT THEM... i also dont beleive anyone should bash anyone in public about what they do ther is the pm section for that..have a little respect for one another if joey enjoys posting his photos so be it i like to look at hunting photos if someone has a problem with that shoot him a pm...dont bust his hump in public...to each their own...tracy skiles....by the way i myself would never ever jumpshoot over my hounds or anybody elses for that matter you could ruin a dog quick like that if someone did it over mine i would load them and that would be that...but thats my opinion...
