sorry to hear about this loss it makes you think of never even trying to do these hunts my dogs are just pups so i have a while before they would be old enough and two are from wch reggie and the other from bj's fudd i almost can say i will definetly stay away from these hunts again im so sorry for your loss
The way this post has developed is doing nothing but damaging the sport of field trialing. If there is evidence that an individual poisoned some dogs, then the evidence needs to be presented.
I don't know any of the people involved in this at all, so I'm making no judgement on anyone but simply pointing out that this thread is causing people to stop trialing. Not because there has been anything proven but because people are speculating on what may have happened
If it turns out that this was nothing more than an accident then the damage done to the sport was done by this post and not by anyone else.
This has become a lose, lose situation. Either there is someone in this sport that is willing to poison dogs or there is someone in this sport that is willing to falsely accuse people of poisoning dogs.

Tim- I couldnt DISAGREE with you more.
If people are going to stop going to field trials due to this, I am sure that there are alot of other things that will keep them away.
Die hard field trialers will keep going to the hunts.
I think it is good to get this word out, that way if poisoning was done by someone at the world hunt, we can all keep a close eye out on what is going on around our hounds.
But something on the internet keeping people away from the sport, I'm not buying in!

dogs poisoned
what i would like to see is some of the other owners of dogs that was in the same barn give their side of what they think happened if anything, i profiled mr vansickle and looked at a few of his posts, and think anything could be possible with this man, before making up your mind one way or the other profile him and read for your self, it might have happened but i want to hear others say it .

Bill-
I will tell you this- I had dogs at times within 10 feet of Dozer at the world hunt, and they were housed in the same building from Tuesday through Sunday. Fortunately Dozer was the only dog affected (and trust me, that was bad enough).
So here you go first hand Bill.....I had dogs in the same area, nothing happened to them. If there had been something in the barn area that was pre existing, I dont see how more dogs could have been sick. There were 5 other hound owners that had their hounds tied out in this area, only 2 dogs became sick. So I guess that rules out something left in that area, unless Dozer ate all of it before the other dogs had a chance to get into it.
So since I was there, I will be my judge, you can be your own judge and think whatever you may.
But IF what started Dozer's downfall started at the world hunt, it was something done by someone.

Scott ,
I have no ideal who you are and have never heard of you after asking around.I guess my question is this . Why would someone poison dozier? What would have been gained? Danny said he had only been bred once so that rules out stud dog. So since you seem to know who did this
i wish you would let the cat out the bag. Cause after reading and re-reading your post I still dont see the motive .Sorry not trying to be negative i just dont get it.

I hate to hear of anyone losing thier dog but has anyone ever thought that the dog could have been sick before the hunt, maybe the vet was wrong, did he say 100% that the dog had eaten rat poison or was that just his professional opinion? Hell, doctors miss their diagnoses their share of the time. I wouldn't want to accuse somebody or insinuate that someone had to poison the dog before I had some cold hard facts.

Maple Valley Kennels-
Why are you so concerned as to who I am? I will give you a brief rundown as to who I am: I have been trialing in LP for 6 years. I have not been hitting hunts hard for the past year and a half due to owning my own business, that gets complicated. I judge at all the big hunts (and small). I am from Ohio (probably why you dont know me), but I assure you that 90% of the beaglers in Ohio know me and get along with me very well (as well as many of the ones from KY, not sure who you have been talking to for your information, but I obviously dont visit their clubs). You know for a fact who the other hound owners were with dogs tied out in that area of the barn, so that will give you a very good idea of who I run hunts with.
I was formerly the president of the Ironton, Ohio, club. I dont think I need to go on. Would you like my college degree faxed to you as well
Enough about me, lets talk about your post for a moment: I didnt reference to knowing anything about who may have done this, if anyone did this at all. You may need to re-read my posts several more times since you have already and still missed my point.
I left my last post saying "IF what started Dozer's downfall started at the world hunt, it was something done by someone".
I didnt say that it certainly did happen at the world, but I didnt say that it didnt. Hhhmmm, if I didnt say that I knew someone for sure poisoned him, how could I incenuate I knew who did it?
Lets keep the board a happy place to visit. You be nice and play by the rules, I will do the same for you. But you will not incenuate things like "Scott knows who did this and wont tell anyone". Trust me, if I knew who did this, if it were done by someone, this post would read alot different. Probably something to the tune of who got barred from LP and is in jail and was beaten badly.
So lets all assume that this is something that could have happened at the world hunt, it COULD HAVE been done by some individual. Then again, it may not have happened there at all. Sad thing is, we will probably never know. But I am sure that we will all keep a closer eye on our dogs in between casts at future hunts, which may not be a bad thing either.

danny sorry to hear of your loss. anytime you loss a good hound its a sad
day and hard to replace. after reading some of the post looks like people
are head hunting and it doesn't sound to me like all the facts are in from
the vet. is he 100% sure that rat poison is the culprit. theres all kind of
insecticides that can kill animals fairly quick, some may have a immunity to the toxins where others could be alergic to them, before i got the rope out i would push my vet into looking deeper into the problem and maybe paying other peoples vets to have dogs in the area checked, under toe nails there hair and what have you. if this is a freak deal the rope thingy wouldn't make this organization or anyother beagling look very promising.

Spoken like a true ohio fella. Since you own your own business it must be a internet stay at home job since you seem to delegate the board as the resident "Who is Who" .
Since you seem to want to throw your past history which is inpertanent to me as well as others . I have trialed for 18 years been a member of Shelby co beagle club , till it dissolved in 05, at that time I am now a member of Greensburg club. I too have been in and out for the last several years. I have bred raised and trained all of my hounds in which they have won every major hunt the arha has offered. I did find out who you are though, I will tell ya this also scotty i dont believe the whole truth on the dogs that got sick is coming out....
Stuff just dont add up to me , Everybody has there ideal , i smell a rat!!!
I ask a question too which none of you rocket scientest can answer. Why would some one poison this dog. ? Thats my question ! Thats all i want to know.. I also know your friend kevin monroe quite well also, why isnt he posting? He is a good fella .. Not much confusion too him..
So scotty stick to subject or shove off, Jeff Brown says his dogs are fine.
I know you boys think somebody from kentucky did this..Prove it.
Or get the facts straight personally i am sick if hearing about it, unless a toxicology exam was done , there is no prove of nothing .Danny shaved him didnt he? Why did you boys shave your dogs anyways?Ever think about briars? He may have brought a sick dog with him .
