Actually, that's not true. He just got HBCH in UKC format in 3 hunts at 1 year old this past weekend. UKC is one of the faster formats and he ran in big hunts not backyard hunts so he ran against pretty good competition. He made some small mistakes mainly due to age and pressure but what dog runs perfect everytime out? Being only 1yr old he has alot of time to just get even better. I'd say in 2 days to tie for first the first day and win first the second day is pretty consistant. He's just a well rounded dog good on strikes, speed, and line control. Solo time makes them run their race vs a pack race when in competition, imo. I like them to honor dogs and pack but be independant in the pack. I'm not going to label all fast dogs will run like him cause that's just not the case as every fast dog doesn't blow up every turn neither. If your dog is a fast and accurate as you say he is I bet the reason you solo is so you can here a good race. A fast competitive dog will blow up a pack faster than anything if they are super fast and close. I have seen hound that go out by themselves on the worst condition and can run smooth and easy with no breakdowns but you put another two or three dogs in there with them and they look completely crazy....
BTW I've seen slower dogs mess up many of packs with faster dogs in it. Still no med speed dog will circle a rabbit faster then my dogs even if they had a break down they have great check work to pick it right back up. Those baby rabbits are great for teaching a smart dog to stick checks hard.
