The guys I run with are all extremely critical of the dogs and thats the way I like it. I want to know every flaw and shortcoming my dogs have that I may be too blind to see. I don't always agree with their evaluation of the hounds but its up to me to take it or leave it.

If it really bothers you that they are so critical then tell them so. It doesn't sound like they have any issues being very direct with you, so hopefully they wont have any trouble with you being very direct with them.

I have had friends that I enjoyed doing other things with, but beagling wasn't one of them. Either they never wanted to hunt long enough or they constantly brought trashy out of shape dogs with them that were more disruptive than anything. Not everyone has the same expectations of the dogs. You can still maintain friendships that dont involve dogs. This obviously has you irritated and Im pretty you don't run dogs to be irritated.

The other option is to buy a couple of those "high powered" dogs on the adult dogs for sale thread and show up their dogs.....

Usually a good sign when someone is bitching about a dog, nobody ever complains about a dog thats just in there barking good. Put one on the front end, grabbing checks, crossing 30 yards ahead and the fangs come out. They will find a a bunch of reasons why it is a p.o.s. I love it give me the one they talk about I will deal with the rubbing.

You use exclamation points to indicate emphasis, as in a shout or a sound made by someone who is surprised or frightened.

I have also heard that about Caps too. I just didn't know if you were upset with our opinion of the topic.

chevyrebel2000, Maybe I have it all wrong but as I am seeing it right now, Why are you telling us this and not mentioning this to your friends , Are you looking for advice on how to handle folks who are treating you in a manner in which you don't approve. How about talking to them about it, wouldn't that be the obvious thing to do, Are you asking us what you should tell your friends? Shouldn't this small matter be a personal matter between you and your friends , you want us to tell them to knock it off? Are you hoping we will talk to your friends for you. Let me help you if people are treating you in a manner in which is disagreeable to you talk to them about it , if they continue then how about breaking off contact so they couldn't do it any longer, seems like a real obvious solution. Maybe the lack is on my part but I am confused.

I agree with Troy 110%. We are always giving each other a hard row to hoe. We gotta have some fun and bust on the dogs some. If you can't handle it, then maybe it is time to run solo. My dogs aren't great and do some of the strangest things sometimes. If my dog strikes a rabbit, turns around in circles like she's chasing her tail while another dog takes off with it in a hunt, I am gonna get a little ribbing, but all in good fun. Take the hits to your pride or walk away.
