A general forum for the discussion of hunting with beagles, guns, clothing and other equipment and just talking dawgs! (Tall tales on hunting allowed, but remember, first liar doesn't stand a chance)
Thanks for the kind words warddog. My dad was a coonhunter and we both loved Where the Red Fern Grows.
Its a classic movie that I think every hound hunter should own. Maybe they should make a similar move with beagles.
Im sure lots of beaglers would watch it.
I learned to train hounds by watching my dad work with his coon dogs. He would drag coon hides, used coon
squalers during off season and had a caged coon that he pulled up a tree.
He told me to start with solid bloodline because the instinct is bred into them all you have to do is take your
time and let it develop. He said your hounds will be as good as the amount of time you put into them, so your
complements mean alot to me.
I have vhs video of some of my dogs that are long gone, but their memory lives on.
Underdog, I loved your video because I could personally relate it to my coon hound years. I can also personally relate to everything your dad did in working coon hound pups as I did the exact very same things with the very same thought process. I have always felt that if you start with high quality blood, known for not only what their sire and dam have done but what their ancestors have done as well as the offspring then your chances of having nice results are much improved. I'll bet your dad had some nice coon hounds as well and I hope you keep following in his footsteps as I very much enjoyed watching your video and look forward to the next one. Good luck with these dogs.
Thanks warddog. I have my hands full again this year with some started and unstarted pups. I spent most of last season
evaluating Taz and Daisy to determine how well they balanced each other in the field. They threw an awsome litter of 4 males and 2 females. I'm keeping one female and can't wait to make video of her training stages.
I remember when you first posted their first chase video on here, I really enjoyed that, it's a neat Story watching pups grow and mature. Congrats looks like you have some goodones.
The Lane Brothers have it going on, great bloodlines and honest knowledgeable guys to deal with.
GOD bless ya
I'll keep My GOD, MY Freedom, My Guns, and My Money! You can keep the "CHANGE".

Thanks Moore Beagles. It was amazing to see the desire in those pups when we drug that rabbit in the snow when they were young pups. Now they are rabbit dawgs that are fun to hunt.
I agree Jim and Joe Lane are great honest beaglers to deal with. I bought Taz and Daisy sight unseen... You can't do that with everyone. I feel blessed to have started my kennel off their line and years of hard work. Now I can produce hard hunting beagles of my own to hunt and sell.
Video Update:
First I want to thank everyone for their kind words about my video of Taz and Daisy. It has been fun
watching them turn into rabbit dawgs that I enjoy hunting. I crossed Taz and Daisy and made a short
video clip of a couple of their pups first rabbit encounter. I had already sold the rest before rabbit
season came in, so I couldn't do this with the whole litter. I only kept 1 female and can't wait to get
her started.
