I sold Gator, Trail's sire, as a pup & only got to see him run briefly once or twice at trials in the Mid-West ; he appeared to be a well put together hound in my opinion; looked to be built very straight & athletic, but I'm no expert. Gator did have a brother with a win or two that had poor conformation , but he did not finish. Gator got most of his wins & places in large pack on hare trials & had an impressive trial record. John Dewyse trialed & handled Gator for Peter Church of Canada & later owned him in his later years. John had nothing but high praise for Gator & said people were missing the boat not breeding to him. He can tell you everything about him. Gator was linebred IFC Branko's Heli-Prop & was a grandson to IFC Trakarab Pacesetter, but there wasn't a dog in his pedigree more talented than his granddam, Elk Creeks Amazing Grace (IFC Taylor's Sock It To Me x Camp Creek Gertrude).
I haven't been around very many Trail's hounds, but Scott Music has one of the nicest big females, FC Bella that I've ever seen in the Mid-West. In the end , it is what it is; you can't make a dog produce good hounds & the numbers don't lie.

Just to correct myself about IFC Stoney Hills Gator's field trial record; I was informed he also had 2 wins, 1 2nd & 2 3rd's in the Mid-West Association in SPO on cottontail besides all of his wins & places in LPH. His wins were at Great Miami (OH) & East Central Iowa in the spring of 2002.
