I'm not saying the dog didn't start, I had to take him out several times before he open up with me. I am saying that there was a differance in Dick than John. After I would pick a pup up from John I could hunt over him the next day, slow, but, the next day.
Dick seems like a nice guy.Real nice, he even told me to come back and run him with some dogs anytime I wanted.
I was just asking a question!
Swing, Branko breed.
Another reason that I asked the question was, my brother purchased a 6month old pup and started the pup in 4weeks by himself. All he did was take him out every weekend where rabbits were at and he jumped up one and started.
I was thinking about saving a $100 bucks or sending my pup back to him.
JUST THINKING!
THAT'S ALL!!!

I like starting my own pups in the wild. I think starting pens promote bad habits as well and dont expose a dog to the real world. I have paid to have pups started, started my own in our own pen and started our own in the wild, I will stick to starting my own in the wild, unless its a big litter and I plan on keeping....then they will go to Dick or Roger!
There is nothing like seeing that pup open up for the first time! Letting a stranger be the first to see that is like having your preacher take your wife on your honeymoon
While teaching to chase rabbits to the pup, the time in the field makes good time to bond with the young dog and teach him/her simple field commands.
Just my opinion.

But on this post below:

You posted four times in what I would call "belittling" someone on a public forum.
I'm not saying I approve of the subject of that post (Lord knows I've had serious debates with this person too and he dont get any Christmas cards from me to say the least), but I'm not gonna degrade someone on a public medium without being provoked, whether I like them or not.
I aint perfect and know nobody else is either (there aint none perfect but One!), but I just found it odd that you would chastise Brain for his posts when you have done the same, repeatedly??
Either you posted the wrong thread or you have no idea what that subject was all about. I really expected the link to be some old post between me and Redtick or something... If you posted the correct link then I think you must be reading something into my posts that isnt there.

I dont remember mentioning your name but if the shoe fits......by all means wear it! Sorry if my post made you feel guilty.blackdirt beagles wrote: aaron - sorry you dont approve of the times i am on here. being off work for awhile, i run when i please and get on here when i please. i dont have a schedule. some days i run at 7am some days it might be 2pm. is there a reason you care? you could send me a sample daily schedule if you like and i will look it over. for the month of december i ran at least 5 days a week and a couple weeks i ran 6 days. i run anywhere from 2 to 5 hours depending on what im doing, such as hunting running my pup, running old dogs, etc. im sure you do it better, but that works for me and my dogs.thanks for your concern.i cant afford an assistant to plan my day, but thanks for your concern pal.

I would expect the person that I paid my money to to be honest with me, both before and after. Before, they should explain exactly what kind of service I will be getting by leaving my dog there. Based on that, if I decided to leave the dog, I would expect him to be honest with the results. If a trainer put forth a good effort using proven methods, and the pup still wasn't doing anything, just let me know the truth. I am a big boy and fully understand that dogs are different and mature at different stages, often within the same litter. My experience tells me that if one pup gets started at 4 months and a littermate gets started at 8 months, it doesn't take long for the late starter to catch up. But if the trainer tells me that the pups are jumping and circling their own rabbit, then I would not expect to have to wait a month to see some action in the field. If I put the pup on a freshly jumped rabbit and he won't even acknowledge the scent, I would think that someone was blowing smoke up my butt.
Hey Mac,
Can you be a little more specific in saying Branko bred, I guess I am a little strange but what some people call Branko bred and what I call Branko bred maybe completely different.
I see people who have Jack of All Trades 1 time in a 4 generation pedigree say there dogs are Jack breeding.
I am looking more of like who were the Sire and Dam.
Thanx

I have been to the guy who starts your dogs brian and seen his set up and i wouldn't take a dog of my enemys to him. me and larry waited 1hr while he sifted through dogs to find his. bird dogs were in the pens with the beagles. and a friend of mine took a female to him and it came back bred!! I seen to many things i wouldn't want to talk about that i seen.. my point is you like him and so does some others and thats fine go to him I and other guys like other starting pen and that fine we will go to him. then theres no probems and everyone is some what happy... my arms getting better so we can go run anytime!
your right tony, everyone should go where they get treated right. ive been to johns many times and yes, he has less than great conditions
in my opinion. but he does what he says he is gonna (for me anyway). didnt mean to get everyone in a uproar over dick. i answered a post asking if anyone had had bad luck with him. i answered truthfuly and didnt get into details because dick dont have a computer to answer back. all i said is what happened to my dogs. i could care less who goes where. dick is just another dog pen operator, no more, no less. you guys like his work, others have had trouble, just like at johns. ford/chevy...buy what you like. after this coming week, we'll have to get out tony. got a couple new dogs im checking out right now and then we'll run. you better not be drinking that sissy beer tonite either. Killions
is what you need!!

WINDY HOLLOW BEAGLES

I'm new to this board and have been reading some of the posts made in this thread. I don't know anybody on this board and will probably never meet any of you but from what i've read Macmaster asked a simple question and after a few answers seemed as though Brian became the enemy. If he answered the question truthfully with his experiences with the training pen then why is everybody on his case. Seems now that some of you are questioning his bloodlines. I'm sure that 100% of the pups taken to this pen doesn't get started. Someone stated that person in question didn't have a computer to defend hisself. Defend hisself from what? A simple question was asked and a truthful answer given. Sounds as though the person in question has a few friends on this board and they don't want to hear the truth. Like i said at the beginning of my post, i haven't met and probably will never meet any of you people but from reading this thread this is what iy sounds like to me. i apolagize if i'm wrong.
thats kinda how i feel. another guy from IL started the post, so i thought hey i'll give my thoughts on what happened to me. i dont think i slammed anyone. sometimes the truth is not what certain people like to hear. they switch it around and start blaming bloodlines or making other excuses. thats fine, cause stuff like that dont bother me. i think most people on here can see that these handful of guys are getting off topic, just because they are mad at what i said about their buddy. i think its a good topic. some guys are just getting a little too carried away. on another post a guy said he watched my dogs run and talked the the pen operator about them and said he recognized me from a picture. heck it wasnt even me
. im not sure why that guy even got involved
. anyway, guess some guys need to take a moment and do a little thinking. im outa this post and sorry i ever got in it. i hope the original poster understood what i had to say. and anyone else thinking of using that pen, all i have to say is, its just another pen, if you got one closer to you, you would be just as well off. sometimes the grass is NOT greener on the other side.

g. isom,
I agree with you 100%. It appears that there are a handful of people on these boards who have no vital input other then to make wise cracks and slam people for airing their opinions and or experiances. I've seen these SAME people do it before. If folks don't agree with them or say something about one of their click they start in slamming. It don't take long until the whole pack chimes in. I don't know any of them and don't care to as I've seen nothing productive from any of them. They know who they are and will probably jump on me but that's O.K. I don't trial anymore and could care less about the clicks garnered there but I do respect open, honest communication from anyone about anything as I believe that is why folks with questions visit these forums. I have little use for personnal attacks or those who resort to it. If you notice I have mentioned NO names but if you fit into that litter keep suckling.
