I was on a job once and I had to go to the door and talk to the people that lived there. I needed electricity and had to ask if they had an outside receptacle or run a cord indoors. A woman answered the door and I didn't know her name so I called her mam. I thought I was being nice and respectful. She blew up on me saying she wasn't anybody's MAM and on and on. She thouroughly cussed me up and down. Still to this day, I don't understand what is wrong with that. Guess I offended her in some way. Some people's sign of respect is someone elses insult I guess. Got the job done and got out of there.
