Here is a link to view a pup from Laneline. This particular pup is 12 weeks old and is out of their male "Dingus". Watch this a couple of times and notice at the very beginning of how the pup is using its nose, it's not just site chasing, it's using its nose. Not bad for 12 weeks old. Beagling is a lot more fun when the pups/dogs you have are naturally drawn to desire a rabbit by pure instinct and you don't have to "convince" or "coax" them to be interested in, or to run a rabbit. Sometimes I think we make it harder on ourselves then it has to be by not starting out with the right stuff. Jim told me his goal was to have Ozzie females to breed to his Dingus male. The thing is, he is breeding Ozzie to Dingus' sisters and half sisters to get these females to take back to Dingus. I get most of it when I talk to him but sometimes I just shake my head in agreement because he loses me when he gets deep into that "genepool/linebreeding" talk. He says he wants the greatest % of his dogs to be Dingus MacRae and Yellow Creek but he has to have a certain % of the Indian Hills and Gay Baker too. He said taking into consideration of all their common ancestors and all four of these lines major faults and strengths he hopes someday to get it right. I asked him when he is going to come up with the "perfect" dog, he just laughed and said “in the field or around the table, the perfect dog around the table is already here but in the field? keep playing the lottery” But hey, if it works for him, it works for him. I know I love my pup.
Has anyone heard of Hills Shakerag Mr. Ed, I think he and Matt Dillon are full brothers ? I have a pup out of him and have been having a hard time trying to find out anything about him.
Expecting a carjacker or rapist or drug pusher to care that his possession or use of a gun is unlawful is like expecting a terrorist to care that his car bomb is taking up two parking spaces

Hills Shakerag Mr Ed and Matthew Dillan McRae are both out of {MTN Valley Rae Flash & Hill's Skakerag Gibby}. There was a cross made where Hills Shakerag Mr Ed was bred to a grand-pup of Matthew Dillan McRae. I was told that some very good, clean, hard driving, med/fast line control dogs came out of that cross. You could run them in Progressive Pack or Little Pack and do well in either. Here is a link to the pedigree of that litter. http://www.espomagazine.com/pedigrees/5083.htm
Oh, I checked out that link above and that sure is an impressive example of a pup born to run rabbits! 12 weeks old, I think it’s kind of young to try to train a pup, but still impressive.
Dr. Chris, that was the kind of information I was looking for on Mr. Ed. Where did you get your information from, I would love to talk to someone in more detail that knows more about that particular cross or really just Mr. Ed in general.

A few of you sent me a "private message" saying you couldn't view the link of the pup. Click on the link below and download "QuickTime" and then come back and click on the link to see the pup and you can view it. QuickTime also enables you to view many other videos too. If you don't have it, download it, it's good to have.

Dr. Chris I would have to differ with you on training pups. If they are willing to go, then I let them go. If they wait to long to go, I get rid of them. If you have to do any more than take them where there is rabbits, thats too much. I can put special effort into a mix breed from the dog pound and get him to run rabbits but I expect more from a beagle that is bred to do it and it's in his blood to do it right. I sure do like the actions of that pup in that video.
