I don't know too many on this board, just my local friends who get on now and then. However, we ALL share the passion for this sport. I always thought to myself that in the grand scheme of things, I am merely a speck. This guy got to see and experience things that we houndsfolk only could possibly dream of. Just reading his posts I would think man, if I could see the dogs this guy has seen, and had a fraction of his knowledge, how awesome would that be? Sounds like like he was a fine example of what a houndsman and a human being should be. May God give the family of Terry peace and comfort in these difficult times.

Re: Sad News - Terry McBride
I met Terry through his site Beagles Canada and then at the Canadian Nationals. Terry was a true beagler in evey aspect, he could go into great detail describing hounds he had run and judged over the years. He helped me when ever I asked and was always friendly. I wish I had known him better, it is truely a shame to loose someone that had such dedication to the sport we all love. I only hope that all Terry`s work with his site and the Nationals is not lost. Rest in peace Terry, I will think of you when I run.Steve Mikkelson wrote:A quick update date from what information I have received (all be it, second hand).
Terry's last day was doing what he enjoyed. While up at deer camp running hounds on deer Thursday night, they shot the deer to end the run, ate dinner, shot the crap for awhile then went to bed. The morning came and Terry never woke up. I guess when I have to go, this would be a pretty decent ending.
There will be a memorial service Saturday Nov 22nd. His home club, Oshawa had a trail schedule on this date, but obivously it is cancel. You can check out http://beaglescanada.ipbhost.com/index. ... howforum=1 to get the info.

All today while working outside, I kept remembering the conversations we had and how impressive the Canadian Nationals were. As far as comparing the Canadian Nationals to the AKC Nationals, there is no comparison. NONE!! Terry took pictures of every hound entered. He made certificates for the
outstanding hounds of every region, and took pictures of every award that was presented (there were a ton of awards). Took the time to address anyone, answer any question and be present to be sure things went smoothly. Fundy BC slept maybe close to 20 people free of charge with individual beds. The food was great. The people were better. I know Terry was not solely responsible for the event, but without his leadership, and desire to make this event better than any, it would not have been what it was. By far, it was the very best trial experience I ever had in 15 years of running these dogs.

I can recall seeing pictures of Mr. McBride in Better Beagling before I knew what a field trial was. I spoke to him on the phone a few times and I shut my mouth and listened to what he had to say. He knew his hounds and told it like it was. God Bless Terry McBride.

Never met terry, but spoke to him a few times via phone about sending a bitch to him, and gathered a hour or so of vast knowledge from terry.Funny how certain folks just seem to know what is going on with the hounds.I will miss his post.He told me once when he was campaining prop he really did not like running against Kingwoods shorty cuz if scent was high shorty would muscle up prop.Wow.I like talking to those who know first hand.Pretty amazing fella.Wish there was more like him.Rip old buddy.Hope the scent is high in heaven.

Re: Sad News - Terry McBride
Terry will be missed greatly. He treated me like he had known me his entire life and offered his knowledge and generosity to me like I was his son. I will forever be greatful for all that he gave. I only wish that I could say "thank you" one more time. My prayers are with his family and loved ones.

There are no words that can describe such a loss to the beagling world. Terry will be remembered as a true houndsman, honest judge, devoted family man and a great friend! His impact in beagling will be talked about for years and generations to come. There are a handfull of people in this sport that I admire and looked up to when I was getting my feet wet. Terry was one of them! Once while talking with him, I said "this may sound like a stupid question", and he stopped me. He said always remember that the only stupid questions are those not asked! Not only was he a credit to the sport, he was a credit to the human race. The highest compliment I can give to a man is calling him a gentelman, well Terry, you sure did fit that bill. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, and may God welcome him home with open arms.
Godbless all those who he touched.

I first talked with Terry about 15 years ago on the beaglescanada board.I had just started with beagles and he would always answer my questions.Even though I never knew him I had great respect for him right from the start.Terry is a class act as a hounds man and a human being. His knowledge and dedication to the sport is simply incredible.Always willing to help someone out, what a great example he has set for the future generations to come. When I cross that great divide for the last time I hope we can run together.I love ya brother and will never forget you.God bless you and your family.
