I am getting so scared of an internet tough guy. :moon:
Don't go getting your panties in a wad. I think someone needs anger management. :vamp:
All this hostility over a trial. I think you need to stick to UKC hunting beagle and hope your hounds win. If you don't like AKC, why do you run in it anyways?

OK children, there is no need to get personal and there is also no reason we need to start threating folks on here. I have never understood why some people have to come home from a trial and run to the computer and start crying. I think every registry that has trials has a process to go through if you think there was any wrong doing. As far as im concerned if your not man enough to take care of business the way it should be taken care of then you need to KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT!
Everyone is entitled to thier opinion but when we have to resort to threats thats where the line in the sand is drawn. You can be deactivated just as easy as you were activated.

This is why i don't trial. I've been to many trials and at most, i could tell you who would win before the dogs are cast. I know there are honest judges and honest trialers, but a few ruin it for many. The main reason clubs fold is cheating. The common man won't stand for it. I may try a trial or two, but it'll just be to see how my dogs stack up to "champions". I may try some UKC hunts. I really don't like that style of dog, but you have to look a guy in the eye to cheat him in UKC.
Keep the best, cull the rest!

I would like tell everyone that WILL listen. . . if you have a problem with Central's club why don't you say it , at the trial, where it can be worked out then and there. There is not one person who is a member of Central that would not talk things out. There have been a lot of changes made and more to come. We are working at making our club the best and believe it will happen. Don't get on the forums and talk like you were there and know everything that happened. I think some of you need to buy a dictionary and look up the word "sportsmanship". You're picture would be the defination of how NOT to be one. Kids need their adults to "teach" them and I am ashamed at what some of this is doing to our children. Thinking it's okay to threaten, make fun of someone and keep trouble going. Is that what we want our children to do?? What if it's your child that's getting the threats and being made fun of? How would you feel then?? I know the majority of this "sport" is men but I would be ashamed again, to let people know how some "men" act. It makes me wonder about their family life and if they treat them like they do other members of this sport. High school teenagers have more control than this. Some of you need to grow up and take responsibility to what has been said and done. I think a real man would apoligize for his actions and words. The USA has enough wars going on without starting another one!! I am asking people to think of their kids, neices, nephews, grandkids, any child, before they speak like they have on here. Remember, that kids pick up on the way you act so don't set this kind of example for them. Show them what a true sportman should be, a true man/woman should be and give them something to look up to and not be ashamed of!!

Thall i can relate to what you are saying but dont think they wont cheat you with out looking you in the eye ,i run ukc and i like it but i will tell you there are some people that are consistently winning that are not honest judges i will say before you run ukc get a rule book learn the rules and then show up and spectate a few ,hopefully you will draw an honest cast and judge , i judge and i dont think ive ever even brought back a question ,and yes i do lose , good luck

I probably shouldn't weigh in on this one, but that's exactly what I've seen at most of the Large Pack trials I've attended -- people offering a handshake or hug of congratulations to the winners and placers. And I'm talking the high stakes trials like the AKC LP Nationals, the CDN National LPH trial, and the Beagle Fox trials. I'm not saying there's never any grumbling later, or when they get home, but for the most part, this faction of beaglers has to be overall the best display of sportsmanship I've had the pleasure of running dogs with. Most are truly proud and happy for each others' successes. I have some of it on video (I wish I had more) but I will post some this weekend.

I'm not knocking everyone else, I just wanted to bring to light something positive I've witnessed.

I agree with you as to the sportsmanship in most LPH trials
You have to go to the trials in the UP of michigan to see what real sportsmanship is all about those people really have it together
was there some years ago when granppy was running got NBQ they cheered as
if we had won the trial treated us as if we were one of their own they have the Family participation down too as do a few clubs here in the norteast most seem to have lost site of the fact that we still are afamily sport its not really the "MAN"thing
and never was if we look back in history

John and Bev

John i got the pleasure of meeting you at Mid Kentucky's trial in January. I remember in the club house that we were talking about how the Large Pack beaglers treat the winner and the others that place when the trial is over. Nobody goes home when they get picked up, There are wives and kids everywhere, a real family atmosphere, and it's a celebration when they announce the placeing hounds. I got the pleasue of judging and running in my first large Pack trial at Northland Beagle club last year. What a great experience it was. I didn't place a dog, but I had a great time. Those folks in the Northern Michigan Hare circuit have got it right, and I'm going back for more of it in 3 weeks.
Once upon a time, a man asked a girl " Will you marry me?" The girl said " NO." and the guy lived happily ever after and ran his dogs as much as he wanted to.

As promised, here are a couple of video clips -- one at the 2006 AKC LP Nats hosted by Sandy Creek Beagle Club, NY. The congratulators were from states all over and several provinces of Canada. The man couldn't even get his dog to the stand for for pictures without the flash of cameras and people waiting in line to shake his hand, lol. It didn't stop after the pictures, either. Folks hung around to share in the moment with him, and to visit among themselves. At the beginning of this first video, pay particular attention to the 2 small children in the bottom right of the frame -- the little girl in the pink hat, and the little boy in the blue coat. They are learning early what sportsmanship is all about, and don't think for a minute they weren't soaking it all in.

In this second video, shot at Ottowa Valley Beagle Club in Ontario, Gaetan Bedard wins the top 3 places in the big female class. He'd brought 3 females, but only had high hopes for one. All she needed was the win to finish. As the placements were announced, his other female got 3rd. He was thrilled with that and would have gone home happy. When the second "other" female placed 2nd, he was overwhelmed. I don't think he ever dreamt at this point his hopeful would place that day. Dan Kane was teasing him about buying us all a beer for doing so well at the trial. With the winning hound left to announce, Gaetan said "If my so-n-so female wins, I will buy you all a CASE of beer." When Dan Kane told him to get his wallet out, Gaetan lost his ever-lovin' mind, LOL!

Now...you have to understand that Gaetan's native language is French. Although he speaks English well enough to converse, some words he doesn't realize are used a little more discretionary by the rest of us. The "F" word is one of them. He uses it like we use the word "wow." (lol) I have beep-beeped on the video, so don't be startled when you hear it. This has to be the funniest win I've ever seen.

John O., you know just about everybody in that crowd in the Sandy Creek clip. How many different states and provinces would you say were represented? There was Joe Wingate from SC, the Steeves and Bungays from Nova Scotia, D. Kane and Giggler from Ontario, there were folks from Vermont, Maine, Mass, Mich, Ind, Ohio. did I miss any? All had a good haul to get home, but there's always time to be a good sport.

All field trials should be this fun. The way I see it, when your dog is set down against 45 other dogs (in any format) odds are...you're going to lose, lol. It's simple math. 1 dog will win, 44 others will not. You have 2 choices here. You can spin your tires leaving and make an ass of yourself, or you can stay and shake the hand of the winner and leave with grace. Which behavior do you want the little girl in the pink hat to see?
