Here is the question for you? What do 99% of the farmers and construction companies buy? They are the people who use trucks like trucks!!! :!: Hint I don't think it is Toyota

They might be made in american but the money is still going over seas.

I have owned Fords, Chevys and Dodge trucks and now own a 2006 Toyota Tacoma access cab. Four cylinder five speed 4wd. 23 miles per gallon locally and 26 miles per gallon on a trip. Better gas mileage than what the sticker said I would get.
The 1989 Dodge Dakota that I own was made by Nissan and sold to chrysler and they put a Dodge sticker on it. American made??
My wife and I just bought a Nissan XL7 SUV. There was a Chevy SUV sitting on the same lot that was identical to the XL7. The dealer told us that Chevy and Nissan "got together" on it. American made??
I looked at Ford pickups 2 years ago. The engine came from Canada and the transmission came from France. American made??
Toyota built a plant in West Virginia. I don't see a Ford or Chevy plant in my state.

I think I have it narrowed down, two trucks. My mom owns a catering service, so I need something that will pull a big trailor. Don't know how big the trailor is, but its pretty big... I am considering a 2500HD pickup truck. I am a chevy man, my mom and brother both just bought fords, one being a Ford F-150, brother bought it. My mother just bought a Ford Expedition 2003 model. Both are real nice vechicles. Toyota's are nice trucks, though, they will last a long time... but like I said I am a chevy man.... will be a hard choice. More than likely a Chevy will be in my driveway before summer.

Sorry to hear you are a chevy man. Just kidding, I think the big three being Ford, Chevy, Dodge are all good. You probably wouldn't go wrong with any of them. I happen to be partial to Ford. I have had two in the past 13 years. I just got an 07 F150 crew cab xlt with the 6.5 ft box this past June, I really like it in all aspects! I already have a little over 11,ooo on it  It replaced my other F150 which had over 200,000. I sold it and to my knowledge it is still running. I think it all comes down to your what you like, just like what style of dogs you like. I am not sold on the Toyota's yet.

Thanks for the info. I have taken the tires back to a general dealer. They told me that because I have a 900 ft rock driveway that the tires wear prematurly. My driveway is 40 truckloads of hard packed shale and is in better shape than most roads. When the spare blew I drove up the shoulder for about a mile and a half to get somewhere safe. The general tire dealer told me that there was gravel inside it and general wouldn't do anything. He gave me the number to call general and complain. Oh well enough about my stuff, i have to agree, buy what makes you happy. I have a 99 Ford F350 with the V-10 and love it. We drive the stuff out of it. I traded a Ranger for the Silverado since in the two years and 40k miles I owned it I had a rattle in the front. The dealer finally figured it out, a loose tie rod. Took them that long to find it, I bought a chevy. We also have a 73 F-100 runs like a bear. I am new to the beagle-trialing thing. Had beagles all my life, thought they were just hunting dogs. Switching to this to meet a better class of people. Showed horses and there are too many snobs (or the good people are hiding). We ain't rich, just farmers. Please send all the 'advice' you can. Here in central Arkansas we don't have many rabbits this year and I have a nine month old female I want to train. Her bloodlines seem pretty decent and she is cute. Also have a tri-color, but she is fixed. Just want to thank all of you for the chance to belong. Hope to meet you soon.

I deal with this everyday. I must still say buy what you want.. it is your money.

I would not .... or could not picture myself in an import. :!:
You think about everything in this country, everything this country has been through and you see our present state and everyone complains. You may think your purchase is only one of millions this year but it all starts with one purchase. We as american people sell out our own country when we purchase something like this. I understand that most electronics etc come from overseas and there is not much we can do about that, but things that are offered here, made here and sold here should be your duty as an american to take this into consideration. Someone said they would not buy a certain line just to buy that line, that is like saying you would buy store brand cookies over girl scout cookies, same cookies just you buy the brand to support something you believe in. Maybe it is time we all believe in america a little more and put the right foot foward.
You make the statement that you want your hard earned dollar to go farther.... when you support another countries money source than you just made your hard earned US Dollar Bill a worth a little less.

Ok enough ranting ... like I said I sell cars... I can sell any of the big three .. my owner has had the offer to sell honda etc and refused.. and that makes me proud to work there.

According to consumer reports Toyota trucks report the most problems over the last year by new truck buyers of any trucks on the road.
I have a 97 F-250 4x4 extra cab, 193,000 miles & never turned a bolt on it other than oil changes & 2 sets of brake pads. I had an 88 F-150 4x4 before that & sold it with 201,000 trouble free miles on it. Had a Ford Ranger before that, sold it with 165,000 trouble free miles on it. Guess what brand I like ?
There are jewels & lemons in all brands good luck with your decision.

Consumer Reports has issued a press release that scores four wheel drive V8 versions of the new Toyota Tundra 'Much Worse Than Average' in CR’s predicted reliability rating, down from its previous rating of 'Very Good'.

Two wheel drive V8 trucks are rated as 'Much Better Than Average' in the same CR used car verdicts.

On its blog, CR also announced that the Tundra will no longer qualify as a 'Recommended' vehicle, and that it will no longer automatically award first year Toyota cars and trucks with an assumed 'Better Than Average' reliability until real-world data can be tabulated and verified. This was one issue identified during a recent half-ton comparison test that CR performed.

The ratings drop is one more challenge Toyota has faced launching the Tundra, after four-star crash test ratings in federal impact tests, camshaft problems in early 5.7-liter V8 models, and the addition of a new, low-end trim line to better value-price the truck for shoppers.

In light of these difficulties, the 2007 Tundra still continues to sell incredibly well, with sales up 57.9% year to date through September.

It will be interesting to watch what impact, if any, the CR Ratings will have over the next few months and if that might cause Toyota to miss its first year target of 200,000 units in sales volume. The lowered rating is also likely to ding resale values, at least for model year 2007 versions until the CR Ratings can return to their previous lofty levels.

This also begs the question, what is causing owners to rate the Tundra lower than its predecessor?
