Females run, males chase females.....
Typical males of any species!!
But honestly. I have run male dogs for so long, I am prejudiced. I have 2 females that are definately more bullheaded then the males, but they are also more driven. The heats surely distract the males more from hunting then it does themselves!! But in 32 years of training dogs, I have found males to be more consistent on a day to day basis, no matter what their job. Females tend to be..... females. Yes, I know, I am one of those.

2-C In a class for combined sexes, any bitch which
in the opinion of the Field Trial Committee is in season,
shall be ineligible to compete and shall be excluded
from the running grounds and regular kennels. A
separate kennel shall be provided for such bitches.
I looked up the AKC SPO rules. I guess it is ok if the males and females run in seprate classes. That is the only reference I could find.

I like to keep more females than males but a good male is always good to have around when the females come in heat. its like everyone else said they come in heat at the worst times. Just got done building my house and have time to run and they come in heat. we need an on off switch .. but then again I would need another one for my wife
