I have ownwed 3 dogs directly out of Turbo and none had any health problems that I saw. I will have to say that they all had a little extra mouth, some worse than others. They also had very hard hunt and great disposition. I have a littermate sister to Catfish's Viper dog that is double Turbo and she has no extra mouth at all  go figure. And she was started on sanjauns at 3 months old. This might sound backwards but if anything I was worried about her being to tight mouthed. Now she gives chop everybreath but uses her mouth right and has a home for life.
If you don't breed for hunt sell you're beagles and buy a POODLE AND SOME PERFUME! GUN DOG'S that's all that matters. The rest will fall in place.

I don't like to drop names, but relatively well known breeder in another area and two local breeders in my neck of the woods had hounds from Sock It To Me, Heli Prop & Turbo drop dead in their kennels at realtively young ages. No one had parasites (ticks, worms) that could account for the symptoms, and many of the hounds had no symptoms at all. Also, a few years ago, not one of these breeders, but another who got his foundation stock from one of them, was having a problem with seemingly healthy pups (we're talking under 6 weeks old) just drop dead, no symptoms, no parasites, worms. Apparently it was very common for this breeder to have pups and occasionally a young adult dog (3, 4 years) drop dead with no apparent cause. All these breders had one thing in common. their hounds were very closely Branko bred, in particular, with a few crosses of Turbo Powered by Prop.
Any chance they had another thing in common.........like Ivomec for pigs?

Thanks!

Randy

Ky Scott. I wish I owned Viper. Ed Smith owns him. I will say this that Viper has everthing that you want in a dog. I took him and 4 of my other dogs out last night. We jump 10 Rabbits, and Viper jump 8 of them. Plus he has all the speed in the world. The only difference is between Viper and his Sister, is you said she has chop bark he has a ball bark. What ever Ed paid to get that dog, it was werth ever Penny.

I have a Female that I just breed to his Sport dog, he is also out of Turbo, that I think the World of.

Hey Guys,

They came early and I have 3 pups right now. Mom seems to be doing fine and if I only get the 3 they will have plenty to eat for sure because her first two litters were 10 & 10.

It would be a hard thing to pick which dog would jump the most. Luke ,Viper & Chance all are very busy dogs.

I am glad to have 3 dogs that can jump rabbit like they can. I am very glad that I have Luke, Viper & Chance around so I do not have to kick brush anymore. ( even though ya know Luke stays at my dads)

Randy, I know of a guy that used to own a feed store here in eastern Ky that Ivomec'ed his pointers monthly. They died at around 7-8 yr. He admitted that the Ivomec killed their livers & kidneys at that age, but that was OK with him, as they were "pretty healthy" until they died!!!!!!!!!!!??????????? He didn't stay in to bird dogs very long after most of his breeding stock died before he moved on to something else. I think it was for the best. What sort of houndsman would knowingly do that?

Ivomec

Post by Alen »

I read a warning some where years ago that you should not run your dogs for two weeks after worming with Ivomec or Panacure and not let them get dehydrated. I have always used both but I don't run them for about two weeks. Never had any problems Knock on wood . My dogs are line bred Branko, Marravic blue Ninja, Turbo powerd by prop who ever they are. Better safe than sorry.

I'd like to address the Ivomec issue. I have 3 Brittnays, 1 - 13 and 2 littermates 11 years old. They have been given Ivomec every month since there were 6 months old. Now I only give them 1/10 cc per dog, period. That is enough for heart worms but maybe not enough for intestinal worms. I NEVER not ran may dogs after Ivomec. They still get Ivomec on the first of every month. I still gun over the 13 year old and you wouldn't believe she is 13. Now can kill a dog that has heartworms and wasn't checked before being given Ivomec. The Ivomec didn't kill the dog it kill the heartworms and the heartworms blocked arteries causing death. Not Ivomec's fault. All my dogs, including trial dogs get Ivomec on the first, regardless if a trial is coming up or not. JMHO
