BJK,
I've ran dogs with Henry...better put your ear plugs in...ha ha. It truly is a great time running with him. Henry and my father became friends back in the late 80's and Henry gave me a little pup by the name of Irish.

Irish became Nr. IFC Kane's Irish Beach Bum (named after Henry of course), a dog that I will never ever forget.

I've run with and handled or judged a lot of these hounds that are mentioned. (at least the Canadian ones) My favorite of all them would be IFC Branko's Heli-Prop. He was a joy to watch. Drive at full speed and turn on a dime! No overunning, reaching etc. with him and he'd hunt and run all day (and then some) Perfectly honest with his mouth too. What more could you ask in a hound. I had him here for the best part of a year (along with his sire, Jack), so I saw him plenty.

Hounds Would Like To Run With

DL., You asked about Jack Of All Trades; It wasn't too fair to compare him with the 16 month old Heli-Prop, since Jack was 7 when I had them both. I got them off a plane from Branko Thurs. and took them both to Grand River trial on Sun. It was Prop's first trial, and he won it. Jack got second. At home, in the snow, Jack could start a hare and go maybe 100 yds before Prop could chime in. Jack had the better nose (or perhaps just more snow experience), but when Prop chimed in that hare was going to move (ands fast). In a trial or at home, Prop was just too quick for Jack. (or any other hound I ever ran him with). Jack might get one check out of a dozen, because Prop just didn't leave much for another hound to get. I handled Prop to 6 wins that year and only two for Jack (although, I sent Jack back as soon as I finished him, so he didn't run in as many trials as Prop.) I believe that even if both of them were two years old, Prop would beat Jack 9 days out of 10. Both were line running, hard hunting hounds, but Prop had that unbelievable quickness you rarely see.

Off the top of my head I can think of one hound and one guy. For the hound long deceased Ch. Thornridge Wrinkles and for the guy......I think it would be a blast to go hunting with Ted Nugent!!!

With a foot of snow and temp around 0 all day run, with all hounds being around 3 years old. You could only wish to have been around to see these hounds in their prime.

Keep them running :whip:

Seeing how the majority of my stuff go back to them a few generations I'd have to choose the following: FTC Branko's Jack Of All Trades, Camp Creek Gertrude, & IFC Taylor's Sock It To Me

As for the individuals that I'd like to hunt with: Terry McBride, George Steeves, & Al Winkler. I'm sure I could learn a lot from them and they'd have some great stories to tell around the table in the evening.
