I've ran web sites and message boards before. I've got experience with it lolBev wrote:I don't know why you aren't in charge of the world.bigcfromrbc wrote:I don't know why they don't use an authenticating code during registration like a lot of websites have. I don't know why they aren't IP banning the spam bots either. This is ridiculous.
In any event, I've changed the spambot countermeasures to a question/answer requirement for registration, so I expect that will stop the breach for now. Thank you all for your patience and understanding. Well, most of you, anyway.
How do you ban the IP of a computer that is set up for DHCP on a network and gets a new IP every time it is rebooted? Which I am sure spam bots would be.bigcfromrbc wrote:I've ran web sites and message boards before. I too was not trying to be smart I was seriously curious if it was possible as most of the time I am running on a machine that is running DHCP.bigcfromrbc wrote:It's more difficult in that sense. Why I also suggest a registration number generator type deal. You can't even sign up for an e-mail address without of some sort of random generator for numbers or letters. I wasn't trying to be a smart butt. Just trying to be helpful. I was also as frustrated as anyone else visiting the forums.
Not to appear unsympathetic, but you cannot possibly be more frustrated than me. But for the record, calling my board and my efforts "ridiculous" is not helpful.bigcfromrbc wrote:It's more difficult in that sense. Why I also suggest a registration number generator type deal.
