Like Bev Said No Need to aplogize heck I am the one that took it in another direction!!!I appoligize for posting this before I actually knew what the rules said.I was just going off of my experiences in the hunts.

From Field to Show and Show to Field the way it should be
It's very good for people to ask about rules and such, imo. Like I said before, the rules in place work but only if you know them. Most people are very honest and in alot of cases very helpful. By knowing the rules you keep the people that are dishonest in check and help yourself and other cast members. I'm ordering a rule book myself as I like to know the ins and outs to be more useful and helpful in hunts. There are many rules and situations that I don't know about without looking up but I plan to learn them best I can.

Lamarr,
The issue here is that UKC promotes front running dogs and yes dogs that cheat to get to the front are rewarded. To change that would cause the judging to be more subjective, a.k.a. AKC SPO, and then we would be talking about buddy judging. The first dog to the line is pretty cut and dry. I've heard, never witnessed, of judges trying not to award line point for a dog that was 3 feet off the trail. Personally, I would give away any dog I had that couldn't smell a rabbit 3 feet off the line. Here in Maryland, I've had UKC trialers tell me they don't want hare breed dogs, but I they are tough to beat in the UKC format. I talked a buddy, large pack trialer, into try a UKC hunt and in 2 trials, he has a 1st and a 3rd, with his head banging front runner. UKC is all about accomplishment, and it sounds like you want to introduce style. Man, don't open that can of worms!
