Just an example: I bought one directly from Joe K. I had a measuring stick from his kennel to reference, but invested large money in this hound.
EXACTLY as described, down to the squall, chop, whistle in her bark....some guys really pay attention to detail.
Chip Davis and Steven Mikkelson as well. Bought from both, If I was looking and they told me I needed a particular dog, I'd mail the money without worry. The good 'uns need to be bragged on from time to time. I know I've been scorched a time or two
I bought a female off of Tom Loomis years ago sight unseen off of his word and I didn't know him from Adam at the time. The female was actually BETTER than he described her as his judgment of speed and mine were different. I've had this very female for several years and have bred her several times and if she wasn't a nice dog I would never have bred her. I've lost track of Tom and I think he has gotten out of beagles and if so we have lost a real trustworthy gentleman.
Got a female from Scott Umthum (BigRiver S). Everything he said was true, took her to the world championships the first year I had her. He runs a tight ship in his pack and has taught me a lot. I still have a lot to learn but It is nice to get out the good stories.
