my buddy has a male, that finially wont make it out this year, he just turned 15, other then slowing down a bit he was as good today as he was at a year old, never ran trash and never got mouthy, were gona miss him, hes gona let him live out the rest his days running around the place. of course every dog is different but i believe health of a dog and genetics play a big role . o and he is a grade dog! i believe 5 is way to young to rid of just my opinion.

I realy like my older dog. He will be 8 in Dec. and he seemed to find another gear just last year. He hunts his ass off and doesn't look his age at all to me. I had him on the Island again this year and he seemed to keep up pretty good. He had quite a few jumps and lead the pack some. The best thing about an older dog is they know what I want them to do without me asking them. I will keep him to the end, and I hope that isn't anytime soon.
