Is there a way to stop your dog from back tracking ??

I think a back tracker is just that....a back tracker. They'll seem like they are 100% broke of it and then years later they'll be destroying runs when they start again. I don't think it's something that will ever get fixed. :ashamed:

22 boom problem solved or send for a pet...they should never be left in the gene pool to breed thats why there are so many lines to this day that do it.

Young or old dog, havnt had to break many from it, but i stand in the track and stop them then walk them to where dog lost the rabbit and tell them in a voice with a bit of excitement in it to catch em, fetch em and most times then not while searching they will rejump the rabbit or pick up the loss and race is on again. Any dog with common sense will catch on and backtracking problem will be solved. If that dont work then and do as bigdog suggested and cut off his tail.

IMHO, that is a sign of inexperiance in a young dog or more nose than brains. I agree that if it doesn't stop pretty quicly in a young dog or if in an older one then cut off it's tail in spit of its nose as the nose is waggin the brain in lieu of the bain waggin the tail.
