The first line of dogs i started with was boldstroke / turbo. i liked this cross so well that i ended up with 3 out of that cross and a couple top and bottom boldstrokes that where bred outside of Gills kennel by another guy. The boldstokes all seem to have gritt, super hunt, and good line control. Mine where all med speed, but ran the line so well that they could look faster. I would still have a kennel full of them if it wasnt for a divorce. We bred a double turbo/double boldstoke cross and i never got to keep a pup! if you can get your hands on a "real" Boldstroke dog you will be lucky! Most of the ones left are pretty old or have been outcrossed. Boldstoke dogs will always be in my top bloodlines.

1. Hurry Up
2. Turbo
3. Boldstroke
4. Logan Elm

There have been all kinds of rumors about Gill and the AKC, etc.....He is still around and enjoying life. He may even have a few dogs still. I havent gotten a chance to talk to him yet (at deer camp all week), but i will when i get home. IF ANYONE WANTS TO CHAT WITH GILL JUST PM ME, and i will pass on his number.

If your looking for boldstroke dogs Mike Hulce (don't know how to spell last name) I believe he is on here and he lives in Michigan has a real nice male and in Warsaw Indiana Tom Rusinek has a few females that are boldstroke!

I still have the Boldstroke bloodline in my kennel. I have dogs directly out of musket , I crossed some with a branko female I have with good results...but I still have some boldstroke top and bottom, hard hitting dogs that get the job done..

If musket was still alive i would be very surprized he would be 12-14 years old i believe , i actually ran him as a young dog for gill. He was a hunting fella little too much nose for me but he could roll. Big nice built hound. I also had dead eye sally she was my favorite of all very accountable for game. I also had a pup called Cody Sharps Big Body Benz. Sold her to somebody down south, cant recall names. I used to run with gill alot he would come down or i would go up. He had some training methods that were a little strange at times but , they worked. I never seen anything he bred that did not have hunt and great hunt. I just remember he lived on like junkyard road or something like that it was a pretty big farm and a ol run down farm house. Good guy in my eyes.

Maple,
You ever see Slapdown Tuffy run ? She was out of Rowdy Ranger and Morning Dancer. She passed at a young age. My male is out of Tuffy and Rebel. I know Rebel is a true jump dog, but dont know anything about Tuffy.

Thanks
Mike

Here is a post I made back in 2008.
I don't know if this hound is still alive or not.He went to Tim Boyer in Chillicothe,OH. Tim's handle on this board is Tboy.
Of all the Boldstrokes I've seen go, Morning Dancer was the very best.
Yeah, Gill lived on Junk Rd. He would joke the road name described his farm but, it was paradise for a dog.

akc BOLDSTROKES STUD who's interested?

i asked Gill Davis to make a cross between lil bear(lprch grbch)to morning dancer.and he did in 2000.i took a male pup.my intention was to run him in little pack, but got out of field trialing & just hunted my pup.he was outstanding.my brother took him & hunted him.i just got him back last week.yes, after 6 years(brother really liked him alot)only beagle he ever had that could catch a rabbit.i was thinking about studding him.is there still interest in the boldstroke line?Bear is a littermate to Jimmy D.and Dancer is a littermate to Morning Star.this is some of the older breeding.
i field trialed the following dogs in arha
boldstrokes lil peggy
boldstrokes reba
boldstrokes morning star (lp rch)
boldstrokes buffalo bill (lp rch)
boldstrokes rambilin willie (arha win)
boldstrokes trudy (buffalo bill's dam)
boldstrokes daisy duck (i am her breeder)
blues creek lil lady lprch(lil bear is her sire)

Small world jimmie my dad and grandpa ran dogs for years with gill they both loved dead eye sally as well. I ran dogs with gill many times when I was very young. You are right gill lived off of junk road which is about 5 miles from my dads where I grew up. My grandpa troy still tells funny and sometimes crazy stories about gill. The last time I saw gill was about two summers ago at a gas station not far from his old house riding his Harley. Lol
