Hunt is absolutely in the breeding you cant train a dog to hunt You breed for hunt -brains -nose- mouth and speed and formost guts You train a dog to handle -fetch -not run trash etc.. And your hound has to have brains to train to do what i call the xtras And to bring those things out and get good at what you bred for to come out it takes Hunt Hunt Hunt and more Hunt I look for guts in a hound in other word staying power if your dog doesnt have gutts it wont have hunt if a dog doesnt have hunt it doesnt do any good to have a nose It all fits togather like a puzzle when you get all these things put togather in one dog you wil have one heck of a hound but it all starts with guts and hunt IMO

Here is mine, JMO Hunt, Nose(working to get more of that, LOL), brains and control( I think these go hand an hand and should progress with age, IMO), toughness(guts and desire combined)** This is just as important to me as hunt**, Ability to be corrected and handled( This one is priceless for a gunhunter as well as trialer).

Boy it is hard for me to say I could sacrifice something, but if I had to say I could stand one weak area it would be a shortness on volume of mouth, and NO ONE loves big mouths more than me, but it is just the icing on the cake, cake is still good without it!! LOL :D
