This is a good tread to voice something that has brothered me for awhile. Their are some very nice females listed on the above responses. Proven reproducers, Field Champions, Mulipute Field Champions , Bench Champins, females with pedigrees that would fill any hound hall of fame. Yet, when ever a young hound comes out like gang busters in the field trial world, it's always "whose the sire of that pup?" "wow whose thats dogs daddy!!" . Quite frankly it is rare that anyone inquires, who the dam is, or the mother of the pup even comes up in the conversation. the stud gets all the credit, and the owner collects the stud fees, as if the female had nothing to do with the success of the pup, what so ever. why is this mentality, or lack of, out their??

Re: females
Run&Gun I am going to say it is because the stud dog service is something that they can obtain for a small price and relitively easy. If a guy has a great bitch that is produceing well you or I couldn't get our hands on her. When I see a great young dog I want to know who the sire is so I can watch him and try to catch lightning in a bottle again.
