A general forum for the discussion of hunting with beagles, guns, clothing and other equipment and just talking dawgs! (Tall tales on hunting allowed, but remember, first liar doesn't stand a chance)
Daddie , Ted Nuggent aka Backstrap master. Darvin Mcclean.Wayne Waits when he was healthy showed me some unbelievable shots and always packed a cool shotgun usally worth more than my truck. Walter Sharp slayed rabbits like no other, but now he does not even hunt. Earl Bruner I finnaly got too show him how a jump dog operates. Last but not least Jay Painter one of the most outspoken, straight up fellas. I ever knew. I miss ya everyday Jay.

Of course I would love one more opportunity with my dad who passed away 14 years ago, but if we are talking from any era, Willet Randall and Frank Reese come to mind, Terry McBride … and some of the fellows on here that hunt Drummond Island, I don’t know your names but you make it sound fun. I have been hunting with Jim Lane and yes, he is a little “crazy” but he makes it fun, keeps it safe and is very “serious” when it comes to gunning. His dogs do “all” the work and always provide an abundance of rabbits. Jim uses a 12 gauge double that sounds like a cannon from the civil war when he shoots, but again, I don’t believe I have ever had more fun hunting as I have when hunting/running with Jim and his dogs. Always something interesting happening. {Just don’t go to any flea markets with him...lol}
I'd hunt with my Grandfather and my great grandfather. I just found out a few years ago that both had beagles and enjoyed rabbit hunting. I kinda remember when i was young that my grandfather had a couple beagles. But I guess my great Grandfather use to field trial in the AKC and field championed a couple dogs back then. I've looked but couldn't find anything out about him or his dogs. Man that would be awesome to see something listing him in the books. But I'd love to sit on the tailgate with those two gentlemen.

I've met and visited with Branko and Freida Krpan and got to watch Branko's One Tough Ombre' win the Large Pack Nationals in '93 but what I would really like to do would be to spend several days with Branko running dogs at his place in Canada and Lord willing I will get to one of these days.I have friends who spent a week hunting with him in '99 and they said it was unbelievable how much they enjoyed it.The one thing they said is if you go there DO NOT get in or on anything with wheels with Branko cause he's a total wild man!
Two guys that I wish I got to hunt with a lot more are my two buddies from New Hampshire; Bob Ferranti and Dan Lea.I've hunted with these guys for over 25 years.First with the coonhounds and now with the beagles.Living in Tn. we only get together once a year.These guys are the best and I cherish their friendship.
My frirst choice would be my uncle who passed away 7 years ago, he always raised beagles and loved to rabbit hunt. Second would be Terry McBride. Third would be Willet Randle.
My grandfather he passed when I was 8 but I can still remember sitting and listing to hunting tales.my grand mother always said I was just like him.just plain nuts when it came to dogs.
Just about anyone who would go with me who wouldn't shoot me or the dogs. I had to raise a son to hunting age to have someone to hunt with me. Everyone tells me I'm too hateful and moody to hunt with, and I'm a smart aleck too. My son can't say that because he's my son, so he goes and tolerates it or I bust his butt. That's just how I roll. Lance Ratliff used to hunt with me but he had to repaint his truck. he said I hatefulled all the paint off of it. They say I smell bad, too. I think they are just jealous because i kill more rabbits with my COntender than they do wth their 12 ga. pumps.

I would like to hunt in the North woods with Bradly Pingley from WV. Along with my other hunting buddies. He could even have his partner Denny along too. Always was a real good time. Trading beagle ideas is certainly worth the time.
