The best all around rabbit dog I've ever seen is a grandson of the Ranger Dan and Molly the Queen cross. Boy is he a good one, and a nice lookin hound to. His dam who is out of Dan has thrown more jumpdogs than any hound I've ever seen. I've only ever seen a few true jumpdogs and this bitch has thrown all of em but one. I will continue to breed this line into my dogs. I like the hunt, nose, and control.
Dry Creek Kennel-Bred to get it done where it counts the most "under the gun".

Steve your right my male has T on the bottom. Comes for the same stuff ron's stuff is out of. As for the hunt, I think that is debatable, I've got dogs that are close in dan and T and the stuff out of T shows nothing close to the same amount of hunt. Who knows !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've got a Ranger Dan daughter who has good hunt, very strong nose. Got a couple of young hounds off her that do not. One looks like it may have some nose power, but nothing inspiring that's for sure. The other is what I would term a "hot nosed" dog.
Both are also fast and rough

Wrong sire perhaps?

Guy's, thank you all for your comments, I like what I hear. The stud I will use is a FC in Pa. grandsire on sire side is Bucks Branch Kalagaha, grand sire on dams side is ranger dan. I think this should be a awesome stud. Thanks again

my tuna pup,15 months now,is on his first season of hunting.
has had lots of bunnies killed over him, jumps his fair share, and hunts well enough to please me.the best thing about him is he is only gonna get better.
for a pup on snow he has been, well, lets just say---dead bunny

I have been told not to breed a ranger dan bred male to a ranger dan bred female as it makes them crazy. I have not seen this myself but was hopin to get some input back on this. Let me know what you all think.

why would they be crazy pups. It's no diffrent than line breeding two other dogs. I've heard this myself on other posts. I think what you will find is that people were breeding anything and everything to there ranger dan males and most likely many of these dogs were very rough and mouthy dogs. People were thinking that because dan was such a producer that it didn't matter what was bred to him. When it comes to breeding, the female places as much if not more of an influnce. I myself have two dogs that are ranger dan bred and I plan on bredding them in the near future. They are full cousins and dan is the grandfather to both.

I agree with you Eddy...half brother / half sister is the way to go when line breeding. Some of the biggest names out there come from it, and if everyone is big on ranger dan how could you go wrong. I might even be interested in a Tuna pup somewhere down the road if you did this Eddy as long as the dam is proven.
