During cold weather has anybody had this happen?

Used to See it a Lot When Runnin in the Cold out West We used to coat their feet in bag balm or petroleum jelly ( vasoline) to help stop em from Forming that and Trimming the hair between their toes also..Never seemed to cause any problems except for the limping and the Stoppin to Chew....
