A general forum for the discussion of hunting with beagles, guns, clothing and other equipment and just talking dawgs! (Tall tales on hunting allowed, but remember, first liar doesn't stand a chance)

Will some of you go attend a judging seminar and call the FTS and volunteer your services so we can get more variety in the judging pool.......will some of you start bringing out your FC's.......Maybe some dont have the time or are physically unable to judge so maybe you will start showing up to the classes your not running in and offer your services as a marshall or FTS.
Your right dixie dog, nothing is going to change unless guys start getting more involved and put their actions where their ideas are.....we have the same thing in churches, schools, and communities today. Everyone has a grocery list of things to change, services they would like, but volunteer NOTHING to help fix it. Dont worry about what everyone is going to do to help, Im starting to think about what I can do to help.......

I already do volunteer by field marshalling. My work schedule doesn't permit me to go for a judging seminar or to all the required advanced judging seminars, I would love to do it
Seminars are usually held on a Saturday. Its only one day and they are usually advertized well in advance. Maybe you could take a vacation day. Sounds like you would make a good judge with your experience and understanding of the sport. When I first started judging it really changed my understanding of field trials.
I think everyone (unless physically unable)should go to the judging seminar and take their turn judging. Some will enjoy it more than others, but at least you can see things from the other side of the fence.
Getting qualified and volunteering to judge for your home club will save the club 100's of $$$ from having to pay someone from 3 states away to judge.

I would like to see more people! I think that all this cheatin he said she said is bull. If your skin is no thicker than that you may want to start showing poodles and not running beagles. I know that it goes on but hunt what you bring and have a good time with it. I like meeting new people, see'n the hounds go and get a good laugh!

i always thought if i could start my own format it would go like this, first off have strikes and jumps ,then checks would not have time limits, and then you would score the dogs on on speed and drive like ukc, then demerit for cold trailing, swinging and cutting, then make it clear dogs dont have to have the track right between there legs to not be a swinger and cutter there is a difference.Thats pretty much how i judge them when i go run dogs.
good dogs run on good days, great dogs run when u take them out
I like what Lamarr said, and would like to add one more thing. In ARHA events, a hound that doesn't hunt for any consecutive 10 or 15 minute period would be picked up. I haven't trialed in a while so correct me if I'm wrong. When I judged, a hound had to not hunt for the entire first 30 minutes of the hunt to get picked up. I never saw that happen but saw plenty of times when a hound stood in the road and waited for another hound to open only to go and take the track away from him. I have seen hounds like that champion as well. One mor ething comes to mind now that I'm getting cranked up. What about certifying LP hounds? That would eliminate hounds that can't jump a rabbit becoming RCH. I will hush now.
