Fuzz is the prefix I use on the majority of my dogs unless they're named when I buy them. The name originated as a childhood nickname given to me by my favorite uncle. As the story goes, I came back from the barber with a spike hair cut(which was in style back in the day). Well needless to say I combed the mousse out, thus leaving my spike to look like a messed up afro. My uncle got a real kick out of that and deemed me Fuzz or Fuzzy. I was 8 years old at the time and from that day until he the day he left us he never called me Jamie, but instead always Fuzz. I can remember several nights staying out to the break of dawn chasing after the coonhounds he loved and that at the time we loved as well. But over time schools didn't like us falling asleep in class, thus his son and I turned to beagles instead of those bluetick coonhounds. He instilled a love for the outdoors, hunting, and life in general in me... thus out of respect to him and my love for him I named my kennels Fuzz.

At this time there's someone else that uses Fuzz, however I don't know them and have never seen their dogs run. Although unless it has Jamie Rice as the breeder it's not from my kennels. Lately I've thought about adding an addition to Fuzz... Perhaps Fuzz's Early Times or Fuzz's Castle Rock...

Quite awhile back me & a buddy were standing around admiring the new chainlink kennels I had just finished building & decided we needed a name. After thoughtfully pondering on a few names he busted out laughing & said
Groundcheck Kennels  Back then we were all a bunch of outlaws & groundchecking means when you are deer hunting you shoot anything the dogs are running & check for horns when after it hits the groundLOL.
Although we're not the outlaws we used to be the name has stayed because we get a kick out of it.

Well, My prefix is easy. My last name is Greenwood so mine will start with Greenwood's. After naming my first beagle I saw that there is someone else that uses that name also but, I figure it has always been my name. The rest of the dogs name follows after parents somewhat. good topic, Paul

kennel name

Post by Big Dog »

My kennel name came from an old nickname that folks gave me when I was in the army and doing competitive body building. Most people think it is because of the size of my dogs until they see them, I run mostly tweeners 13.5 to 14.5 inch dogs. The name Big Dog was given to me by folks at the gym. They never new my name they just called me Big Dog when I worked out , I can't figure out why because it isn't like I was huge. The name stuck with me and I start all of my dogs names with "Big Dog's ------ unless I buy an older dog which is rare to never.

Where I started my kennel in our backyard was one huge white pine tree all by its self. So be it ' LonePine " it became. I also will stick my last name as a prefix sometimes also since it is not very common. Cant believe AKC wants 150 bucks to register a kennel name. Geeze thats' pricey. peace and good running

WINDY HOLLOW BEAGLES

Post by windy hollow »

July 1981 I bought my first AKC registered beagle. his sire's name was field champ vall I hai Hershey, and his dam's name FC laurel hill sue ann.
I thought wow such long winded names, well we already named this beagle SAM but now I thought LETS GET LONG WINDED well the area we live in is kind of down wind from where two mountains pitch inward and create a hollow. that winter we lost a roof from the strong winds that come through here. so we came up with WINDY HOLLOW SAM.
this was the best hunting hound I ever had, and I never gave it a thought to try to get with someone with a female to get a son from him or a daughter. SAM died at 13 years old and ended the line.
when I decided to get into beagling full boar I decided to do it in rememberence of my lost buddy and call it WINDY HOLLOW KENNELS but the zoning board informed me; yes you can have a kennel in this zone but it must be further away from boardering propertys than the propertys are wide so indeed no you cant have a kennel but you can build a storage shed in the center of your property.
so I am building a storage shed to store beagles and calling it WINDY HOLLOW BEAGLES.
