I would suggest taking a look at Sundown Kennel these guys are producing some awsome hunting hounds. I have several hounds straight out of there kennel and they tare the brush up. I would also talk to Mt View Kennel Bill Ashcraft is producing some great pups I have several from him and they never stop hunting. They live to run a rabbit.


I will agree that papers don't run a rabbit but one thing is for sure you can't hardley sell a pup that is not AKC reg. Papers mean more than most people will ever know!!!! Alot beaglers think they got a good male and female and when they breed they will have great pups not so. Dogs back in the pedigree make up that whole pups pedigree not just the sire and dam. Most reputible breeders put alot of stock in a pedigree because they can look at faults ancestors had so they don't bring those faults back in strong at a breeding. Knowing the pedigrees and UNDERSTANDING them will help you to continue to get the traits you want but one thing is for sure you won't get quality dogs with papers for 100.00. Just becareful of the little behind the barn breeders that just want to have pups to make money not better the breed, or have accidental litters.

Van Stephens of Grayson Ky advised me he had a FC bluetick that was a hunting machine, hunted hard, in the brush, briars anywhere you put him. I left a dog for jasper to breed, I don't believe you could ever go wrong with him,,,,but he has me looking at this hound now, because that is my first priority aggressive hunt.....

I have a nice young male out of Sundown and Mt View Kennel that I bought off of Bill he sure is a looker and he has decent hunt and doesnt have any major fault that I cant live with
I also agree papers dont run a rabbit but you have to have some kind of guidline to go by when getting a pup I am a big beliver in Line Breeding to keep the traits you like

A hard hunting cross is the IFC SPEEDY SPORT X IFC THREE JAY'S JACK SMOKEY, i have a grandpup to them, and my kennel partner has a pup out of a different cross, but same father. Both of these bitches have the hardest hunt you will find. More than welcome to come watch them, and get an idea of what that line is.

hunt is the MOST important thing that i look for in a line and since if was raised next door to rufus (pine mt. beagles) and have hunted with and owned some of his stock for many years the bar that i measure hunt with is higher than most that i have seen... bottom line they are the hardest hunters over all that i have seen. them and northway and patch hounds are my pick's of the beagle litter...........

Hillbilly, ur preaching to a deaf crowd, the hardest line is available but several are not smart enuff to use it.They would rather bred to dogs that been dead for years,or offer studs that cant jump or circle a rabbit. If there is a harder hunting line than what you and i feed as well as a few others.Show me. Good luck preaching to this choir.

It has ceased to amaze me how people can not see the trees for the forrest. People more than too often use there heart more so than there brain. Lets pick on me for a while what the hell its friday. I have offered one of the premier and i do mean premier studs out there, He has finished out in different regs went into the hall of fame and accomplished more than most dogs will ever achieve.Whats his weakness? Guys jimmie is telling the truth I have watched junie run and when my Chester female comes in I no exactly were she will be going. I droped a better than average hound in my opinion with junie for 6.5 hours one day in big running and at the end of the day in my eyes if we would have been scoreing it junie beat my old knick hound. junie has more punch out of the check than anything I have seen.

we here in missouri got a litter of them hunting pups bred as close as i could get to your program..i mean close..they are young and these pups 4 months old are running loose right now with some older hounds..they will hunt all day not a few hours ALL DAY....they have no hair on their tails their ears look like someone wire brushed them and if you didnt know anybetter you would think something was eating the skin away from their lips and nose.. ..but i guarantee you you can go over there anytime of day or night and you will hear a race going and there will be these lil broken up pups squeelin the whole time right behind the big dogs..hunt!!if that aint desire and hunt and determination i have no idea what you are looking for and you will prolly never find it..we are gonna put these pups sunday before they hurt theirselves..man o man i cant wait till a year or so down the road when they really kick it in..these are our future along with what i have now in my old hare blood..man o man..i hope money turns around for me sometime so i canget a few to the trials and show them off..good luck fellas

Jimmie maybe we can keep ol junie to our selfs .You know theres been a lot of nice
males from rufus's line that were never bred to by the public we both own 1 or 2 and that's
fine with me. Junie is a fine hound and i would be proud to have a hole kennel full
of his offspring. junie has done alot in the trial world and that great but even if he was
never trialed we still know what he is and that is how the line will live on not by accomlishment
but by the ones that love that dog with desire,ect.maybe we can keep the blood in the family.
