Not trying to horn in on someone else's thread, but I think it would be a great idea to start a tribute thread to honor those who gave us our start in this great sport. I'd be glad to start the thread, but I felt like Mr. Ramey should have the chance to get it started if he wishes.DRamey wrote:Chad, some of those who got us started aren't around anymore. I'm sure the same with you, Jimmie. Remember, Chad,I buried a part of me when i helped carry Paup Pugh to his rest. Nobody around here would run hounds like he had now, mouthy, trashy, too small, hardheaded, but 90% of the beaglers around got their starts with Paul taking them hunting and keeping them out of trouble. Maybe we should start a tribute thread. Jimmie, I'm sure you have fond memories of someone who invested some time in you who owned a bunch of scrub hounds back in the day, and I'm guessing most of you other guys did too. My tribute is to Paul Pugh, who took boys hunting when he could have been going without all the aggravation. He chose to make a difference in them wehn he didn't have to. This time of year we reflect on the ones who aren't with us now, and the beaglers had a tremendous impact. I dare say that there are probably some here who would have met a bad end if not for one of these old timers. May everyone have a wonderful and safe holiday season. If God wills, I will graduate from college in May and I will be back to trialing soon after. In the not-t-immortal words of the governor of Caleeforneya, "I'll be back!"

yeah, maybe i was quick to judge, never accused any one person on the poisoning, but i do know i caught sneekin around in my section of the barn the night of the banquet,no,it wasnt jimmie or anyone that ventures this board, but i will not say cause that doesnt mean he did it,but i do keep an eye on him when he is around, anywho, yeah,i was mad over the dozer junie cast, maybe the outcome would have been different, maybe not, your right, you wasnt there, that is why i never blamed you,but it is over,i let that flow under the bridge a long time ago.........
but i am glad we let bygons be bygons,i am glad you forgave me for draggin you and junie through the mud,and i am glad to call ya a friend,i never said i was perfect, but i am darn close
No problem man,we all lose sleep, old ladys ,jobs, and tons of cash and have high stress levels. For what? Too win the big one. Wish i had it all back and no dogs at times.I have worn out several trucks and lots of luck for 10.00 dollar trophies and bragging rights.Heck i can remember when kentucky ruled the roost and ohio boys were just there.Funny how things have changed over the years.Anyone can win anymore. 2 things are certain
the fire to compete aint nearly as strong , and i am still wearing out trucks and stress is still there, just aint as bad, getting ready to turn my stock over too the right person.I just want to stay home anymore and pat on shorty and run my dogs. Hunting seems to be lots more enjoyable anymore other than putting my dogs under judges and crossing my fingers. Strange how prioritys change with time.Ramey you are so right, i had great teachers thru the years and still went to jail.Ya know whats funny though? I came back stronger than ever. Jail sucks....
. Age cures everything we all turn out too be good guys if we live long enuff.
I miss judging 3-4 rounds at the old shelby co beagle club. I could run my azz off and get it all ,only to get back too club house and do er again.Them ol fellas used to run me like i owed em money.
well, when ya go to let go of abby, let me know,i would love to see what her and bandit could reproduce

Kip, be my guest. You will be just taking me up on the suggestion. Start it, I'm really curious. Really good time of year for it, too.

Re: What a year
Ramey,
The thought of old man Paul brings back more memories than you could imagine. I remember many mornings loading up about 15 dogs and heading up on Beaver to run dogs. I get a laugh sometimes about some of the dogs we ran then. They would run anything that would lay a track. But boy did we have a lot of fun. All he cared about was the sound of the dogs runnin. I sure miss that old man, I loved sittin and talkin to him on the porch. I remember the last time we talked, the stroke had took his vision, but we talked about dogs for a couple hours. I remember leaving with a lot of sadness in my heart that day, I knew that was the last time I would see my old friend alive. I know though he's now in a better place and I hope to see him again someday. I could write a book about him, he was surely a role model for me. Thanks Ramey for taking me back to the good ol days.
