A general forum for the discussion of hunting with beagles, guns, clothing and other equipment and just talking dawgs! (Tall tales on hunting allowed, but remember, first liar doesn't stand a chance)
Do what fireman said, worked for me. The guy brought the bitch from 5 hours away. The male may get a little worried too if you allow her to try to grab him, so start off this way.
Yup, a muzzle and short tie her. Usually after the first 5-10 minutes of being "tied" with the dog my girls will calm down and be fine, it's just when that bulbous gland swells and stretches out their perinium and then the dog turns...I think that hurts. It's a pretty freaky thing if you think about it so give her some compassion too.

I've seen some females like what you describe. They don't get bred and don't get to stay here. That trait is heriditary. Don't breed anything you don't want more of. There's plenty of good females that are good mothers also, life's too short to put up with that stuff.
Look at it this way, if someone had done their job and culled the female that your dog inherited this trait from you wouldn't have to deal with it now.

I think a gyp not standing is the least of my concern if she's a tuff rabbit dog, like Ol' Ringtail said my gyp bout ate ol' Banjo up. I thonk ring just turned her upside down and poured it in..... anyways she's bred and getting fatter than a tick. Matter of fact I think she just backed up to it like an old skunk the second time

Riverbottom, Out of 4 pups in the litter, we got 2 FTCH's, one that need just a win to finish (tons of points) @ 2 years old, in big packs, and the other went to a gunner, he and his hunting buddies said it was the best dog they ever had, and they had alot of years of hound hunting between them . None of these dogs had that trait.
These were exceptional hounds, breed 'em, don't worry.
