That is how we clean a rabbit. The best thing that I have found is a pair of game shears or a good pair of meat scizzors. Cut the rabbit right down the middle of the spine and you get two back legs and two loins. Cut them apart and you end up with four pieces of meat per rabbit. Cut the rib cage out.

I have tried "squeeze gutting" and found that it often squeezes the contents of the stomach/guts out into the meat.
I quit doing that.
Occasionally, if it is hot I will gut one with a knife to get the heat out of the carcass.
Most of the time I never gut them.
I skin them, cut the back straps and hind legs off leaving the guts intact in the carcass.

I watched the video and am going to have to try that one.

I have a friend who gets the rabbit by the head and slings it very hard toward the ground and literally throws everythingbelow the diaphragm out of the rabbit. The problem I have found with this and squeezing is that the pee bladder often ruptures soaking the meat with pee. of course, if you shot the intestines to smithereens a little pee isnt a big deal. Soaking in salt water cures a lot of ills. I usually cut from the ribs down and hang the guts out of reach in a bush. I give my hounds the feet, fur and all to munch on. Never had any ill effects from this.

We always clean our hare at the end of the day and in a place AWAY from where we hunt. Just don't like giving the Yotes a free meal and maybe have them around our hunting spots more than they normally would be. I know, they live there anyways. But they won't get free handouts from me.
