WOW !!!! Lets see now, I think I may just be one of the fellas that wouldn't mind being beat by a woman in a bikini at a trial.  Where we gonna hold this here trial? I don't want to miss it. ;) The reality is, at a trial the hound that wins is the hound that wins. Anyone that thinks the hounds handlers sex has anything to do with it is nuts. As far as handling the hounds goes there is really very little you do anyway. Once the trial starts it is the judges who do most of the handling and the handlers simply observe unless directed to do otherwise by the judge or judges. I myself am pretty understanding about stereotypes and the nonsense that comes along with them. As a male nurse for the past close to 15 years now I have seen lots of it on both sides of the fence. I think the best advise I could give is to just show up, do your best job and let your work speak for itself. If anyone has a problem with it then it is their problem not yours. Give em heck with that big red dog! (I love red hounds) Now I have to go .....I broke a nail......oh you know how us male nurses are!!!

I did judge a cast at the Grand Nationals that had two Lady Beaglers in it. It really got funny, because the wife handled the dog and the husband stayed up on the road. Well to make a long story short, their was a jump and a strike all 3 dogs being handled by the male handlers were with me. The two dogs being handled by the ladies were out of my sight. I called out which collar dog is that and both of the ladies (god bless them) didn't know their dogs voice. Neither one of them claimed the dog that jumped the rabbit. Meanwhile the husband is up on the road just knowing that it is his dog and that he just picked up a jump and strike. I get up to the road and read out the score and tell them what happened and the husband seems a little agitated. Me and some of the others their got a really good laugh off of it. The sad part is her dog would have won if she had claimed it. I couldn't see which dog it was so I ended up not giving any credit for the jump and strike.

You meet some characters at trials. I know of a guy that if the judge asks whose dog barked he will always say it was his dog. This is to keep others from getting points. I don't like it at all, and feel that it is poor sportsmanship but many people know that he does it.

Ole CLYDE,
You wont have to wait five years to finish him. That is one of the best crossess that I have seen. Consistently throws good dogs. I had a female that was the same breeding and she was awesome. Right outta the running pen she would put it on broke dogs. I have a son of hers right know that is double bred Pine Mt. Chester. He is 3/4 Chester. Only grade dog I own and he will die in my kennel. I have run against you and your husband before and yall have some very nice dogs. Wouldnt worry about the comments because you got the dog that can do it. I heard you guys got 10th at the Grands and that is great. Keep it up and finish ole Clyde out so I dont have to run against him for a while.

Happy Running

Will
