Jack, The Diazinon is just a different pesticide. It was a very common pesticide in lawn, garden, and home products but was banned for residential use in 2004. It is still used commercially. Lots of people liked its effectiveness but there were apparently EPA issues like there are with most chemicals that prove effective at killing insects. I feel a little more comforable using the permethrin products but that is just me. Permethrin is found in many products that are labelled for use on dogs. Of course, NONE of the cattle tags are labelled for use on dogs. If there were "dog tags", they would cost $10 each for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In my mind, the permethrin tags are as safe or safer than Permethrin spray which you have to reapply every 2 or 3 weeks to get the same result. Here is an attempt at a link with some general info on Diazinon: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diazinon. If it does not work, you can do an internet search for more info!
