Proper way to put e-collar on dogs neck

I put mine on just as Mr KERR described and tight enough I can get one finger under the collar. I run two collars regular and the e-collar. I have never had a problem hitting em I do use the long points on one dog.I have read several places that collar goes were the head meets the neck above the regular collar.
