Lost Hounds-Update

Yea, I put reward in the newspaper ad.
A man just called and said that they've been at his place the last couple of days. He said they've been running rabbits and that he'll call me if he hears them again and try to get them tied up for me. He said the tri-color male (Gunner) has a pretty bad limp, I'm assuming it's because of all the running.
Hopefully he'll be calling back soon.

I went over after calling him back, but no luck. I'll probably go over again in the morning and take a dog, see if I can get him on a rabbit-if they are in hearing I would imagine they'd come in.

Several years back I found a walker that had been gone for over a year.I had long given up any hope and had replaced the hound with another from the same litter. One night while hunting an hour or so from the house I heard a very familiar bark, his bark was a one of a kind.I tried to mark the location because I was not real sure of the lay of the land. The next day I went for a drive and found the dog in a kennel up on a hill behind a house. The owner of the home got mad when I told him it was my hound and went in the house and got papers I then referred to a tattoo in his left ear that had been placed there by the breeder in michigan and told him that I had already called the law(big lie)and he said just take it he did'nt hunt anymore.
So keep looking you should find them.

I found a foxhound after 9 months. He put in a race, but I did'nt know his mouth any more. When I picked up the hounds there he was. Big and fat a a choke around his neck. If possible I would try to get a race going early in the morning. Give them time to get up and get moveing. I would think they are stiff, sore and wore out. They surly would lay down by water to rest. I bet you get them back. They know where home is.

I would say that you go down there with a few hounds and they start
a good chase that those two boys will be eager to get there and see
you. I have done this before and if they are in the area they will be coming and probably glad to see you. Is this far from where they
started out? I am surprised they haven't come back yet but a few
don't come back to where they were let out. Keep after them and
you will get them back.

They're BA-ACK!!!!
A guy that lives about 2 miles from here was kind enough to drop them off this morning. He said that he's heard them running rabbits on and off for the past few days and he finally caught them last night. They ended up being gone for 10 days. They look pretty rough around the edges right now, very thin, no fur on end of tails or muzzles, and their eyes look very sore. Gunner, the 7 yr old is also walking pretty gingerly-he looks very worn out. But, they are getting some TLC and hopefully the weight will come back on by the time we go up North for hare in 2 weeks.
SO EXCITED!!!!

NOW THAT'S GOOD TO HEAR

That is awesome! It is amazing what those little guys can endure. Throw em each a big old uncooked T-bone out in the pen and let them gnaw on that for a while. Make sure to leave some good meat on it for them too.
I know when my female showed back up and I went to get her, she was pretty timid. Even when I got her home and back into her own kennel. Give them lots of love and some good snacks and a scratch behind the ears and they will be fine.
Glad to hear you have good neighbors.

Thank goodness. I have been thinking about you every day!!! Maybe they were just trying to get a warm up for the trip!!
Just proves my theory, there are still good people in this world. If only the media in our country would figure it out.
