I have 6 dogs, 5 of them anyone can take to the field and they will hunt and handle pretty much the same as if I am there. The 6th one will not do a thing if I am not there. She isn't shy at all, but doesn't like strangers to touch her, so if you let her out you are going to have to work to catch her. I let my buddy run them for me sometimes in the evening and I always tell him to just leave Queen in the pen. She will go if the other dogs jump one, but she will not hunt for a stranger. If I am there she will jump every rabbit in the woods. She doesn't care much for strange dogs or strange people, but she probably has a home for life, because she is a Rabbit Dawg for me, and that is the only person she has to please cuz I feed her.(LOL)

Anytime I have ever bought a hound it spent the first couple weeks in the kennel, house, riding in the cab of the truck with me, in back in the box and in the yard. I do this so the hound will get to know and trust me. And me him!
I have always seen the hound in action with the previous owner so I am not worried about what it can do, only that it will come back to ME when its done doing it.
All know from my previous posts how I hate a hound that will not handle. I will take a hound that is less capable in the field than another over one that cannot be caught or has to be left behind. I HATE THAT!!!!!! I find that a hound that really bonds to its owner/handler will die trying to please him/her.
