Here is a pic of my male last summer. He has a real bushy tail and thick coat whereas my female has a finer coat. Not the best pic of his tail but you can see it is bushy.

Here is my male, take a look at his tail.....If his tail wasn't docked then it would look like your dog's tail with kind of a point to it but yet very bushy......your dog's tail would have more of a round look to it if you maybe trim the hair at the tip or band it right smack dab in the center of the white for that show dog look..........

I'll dock all mine from now on. Because today I had one just about bleed out. I noticed he was bleeding a little more than normal, but a couple hours into hunt I should have known something was wrong. He normally runs the front with my friends pack but he was having a hard time keeping up, I went in an pulled him out about 12:00 and he could hardly walk. Gums were solid white. Took him to truck and got tail taped up, Later in the afternoon took him to vet and had blood work done, He was down on red cell count and some kind of % thing I had never heard of.
Long story but he's fine now just run down and washed out, looks like he'll be up for a couple weeks recuperating
