INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY, IF FOUND GUILTY PUNISHMENT SHOULD FIT THE CRIME.... TO MANY SLAPS ON THE WRIST. BUT THERE IS BAD IN ALL PROFESSION, NOT SAYING THIS OFFICER IS BAD. WE JUST DONT KNOW THE FACTS AND EVEN IF IT IS IN THE PAPER IS STILL JUST BS THE TRUTH WILL COME OUT IN COURT
mtneerbp and everyone else==Innocent untill proven guilty is the way it is suppose to be and the Great American way but ain't correct in our society and todays court system-once arrested for anything and you go before a Judge or Jury, the assumption is that you are guilty, otherwise you would not be in court in the first place.I once was told in court by a Judge that in his court room you had to prove your innocents and he is correct in every court room and court system-not the legal system-but the present day court system in which you have no rights any more if it goes against the system-in our court system it is suppose to be Legal,Moral and Just and JUSTICE for all-most and i repeat most -court systems are in contrary to what out Justice system was meant to be and set up to be.It use to be that a DA was to keep everything legal and it was that way 40 years ago,but today the DA is a prosecutor for the State working with the Judge to sentence you to whatever the both of them can come up with to make them both look great in the eyes of the State, without any concern about you the people that elected them both,it is called job security. Now i know some are going to take offense about this, but if you have been there and done that you know i speak the truth and only the lilly white and perfectly respectable do gooders that have never received even a speeding tick is the ones that are not going to agree with me and yes we do have a few of them still lurking around in our mist that may have done wrong but never caught and knows nothing of our great court system.Have a great day and go run some dogs.
Gotta agree with Rebel on this one. The law enforcement guys are just doing their jobs, but the justice system stinks and could use an overhaul. You may be innocent until proven guilty, but I guarantee you that's rhetoric - you are treated as guilty until proven innocent. (no, I've never been arrested, but had a couple of family members have to deal with it and I've hired felons who'd paid their debt when no one else would). Innocent people fall through the cracks all the time because of blanket statutes, catch-22 situations and no flexibility for extenuating circumstances.
I've seen folks stuck with felony charges and lose their 2nd amendment rights for the rest of their lives, because they broke an outdated statute and they didn't realize what they did was illegal. The same act may be perfectly legal in the neighboring states. How do you take a person's 2nd amendment rights away for a non-violent crime?
I guess you can say everyone needs to read every state constitution and laws before they go there, but really, how many folks do that? Some of the simpler lifestyle laws need to be standardized federally if one is going to lose a federal right over it. Sorry to sound down on this one, but even in our great country there are still things that could use improvement.
One last comment on the subject matter=MISUSE OF POWER; civil and criminal;locale, state and federal. This is a federal law which allows you to sue an Officer of the law,any officer or agent thereof, locale, state or federal which also includes any Judge. In the event you sue cause of MISUSE OF POWER than the person you are sueing has to pay for their own attorney out of their own pocket cause they stepped outside the protection of the system by misusing their power. Some try to tromp on our Constitution but no one person or agency is above the law, some even attempt to act as gestapo agents untill they find out they can not hide behind a government title and can be sued and punished just the same as you and i.The law is:::James Monroe vs Frank Pape,365 US 167,5 L ed 2d 492,81 S Ct 473 (No.39)::::::You feel you have been wronged by the Legal System??You have rights use them and if you have been done wrong by the system you can have your record sponged and start all over with a clean record.Use the SYSTEM and make it work for "YOU" after all you are part of the cure or you are part of the problem. You and I, we are the Government and it is up to us to make others know it and make believers out of those that can't understand it. NUF SAID!!!!
I have had some people curse at me and then 2 weeks later, when the sh-t was hitting the fan ON THEM and the called for assistance and I arrived, they said "man am I glad to see you".
Again, may God be with the family of the slain Officer...
I agree, Darrin. Too bad the law enforcement officers can't counsel the courts, but they have enough to do as it is. I find policemen to be much more human and "humane".
I'll stop now. I'm not hammering our police officers - I'm disgusted with what happens sometimes after they've done their jobs. Think about it - they risk their necks to catch the same drug dealer 4 times and a mother who writes a bad check to feed her kids gets jail time. Okay, I'm done carping.
