Is this what they refer to as "dog blew up"????

Get a tube of Nutri Cal and carry it with you. Give her about an inch line on her tongue after about 3 hours of running and that should do the trick. We had one that you had to do this for everytime out.

Thanks everyone for all the help. She saw a rabbit in the yard from her kennel tonight, and wanted out real bad. I let her out, and she ran right down and run it for about 35 minutes, then I gathered her up and put her back in, but at least I know it didn't hurt her desire.

Many posts have it correct. It was a "running fit", not necessarily a seizure and not necessarily cause by low blood sugar. Low blood sugar can cause seizures in a dog, our case the dog would snap out of it and be under the truck when we returned. It didn't happen very often, not even once a year, but it did happen for life. Try the candy, maybe prior to cutting them loose to get her blood sugar up. I would use a tracking collar on her so I could find her again. We never bred our dog, we were afraid of passing it on.

Good luck.

Boy, isn't that the truth!!! Not quite as much as the relief I felt when I heard the bells coming up through the yard that night though.

Big Dog said it. Nutri-Cal
This is what the vets around here recommended a couple of friends of mine, and it has worked fine for their dogs. Most of these guys give it right before they turn loose. If they run for several hours, they may give it again, after about 3 - 4 hours.
