FP, my friend had a cheap shock collar on her dog. It burned holes in the dog's neck because it was poorly built. I have heard of that a couple of times. Also if you have other dogs around, which I don't think you do, their barking will set off the collar. I like Tritronics products. If you stay in beagles or any dog for that matter, the investment in well made product pays off in the long run. You are young and this may be your first dog. Think ahead and don't put your dog at risk by buying cheap stuff. Do introduce the collar with caution and check it fequently. Innotek makes a fair product.
Beagles are lots of fun. Keep on learning. Do you walk the dog in the morning before you go out? That helps in my household. I get up a half hour early so that we can have a morning run. Won't leave them without that exercise. Also do you crate your pup? That helps limit visual stimulation that gets the barking going. No running around house barking at every little noise and movement.

I will deffiently keep an eye out on this one, I've heard good things about it!
Beagles are defiently fun, and a little challenging, at least for me because I also have the most obedient black lab{who lives with the 'rents}.. so its been a little tiresome but so fun! Yes we go out every morning for a walk. Infact we walk several times a day! I just love my little hound {thats what I call him lol}.
If this doesn't work then I will defiently look into a better quality product, and whatnot.. And believe me. I spend more money on my dog than I do on me. lol! {With pet sitters in all}.

I found my beagles were better behaved once they had the freedom to run. That was after I was introduced to my friend Tritronics. Took the hounds out last evening- had a long run, up a trail, across a road, through a field to the edge of the bush. Chili disappeared and I finally gave up calling and headed for home through the bush. I sort of knew where she had gone. Well, was part way through the bush and here comes Chili to meet me. She was covered in black muck, wet and stinking. But she was happy and had a good run. She is almost 12 years old now. Guess she is finally getting trustworthy. We covered about 6-7 km in the heat. Too hot during day to be out so go in early evening. Dogs didn't pest the rest of the night. lol Carolyn
