Its no big secret some people will lie and cheat to make a dollar. The main thing I was trying to get at was that everyone has a difference in opinion on what they think is a good dog. Some dogs that some of my good friends might like or think are good dogs might not suit me for one reason or another. The bottom line is you should see the dog for yourself and not take someones word for it. If your willing to buy a dog sight unseen then you should be willing to take a screwing! Just my opinion!Phillip Housden wrote:Sounds like your saying a mans word is not worth much anymore. When you lie that puts you lower than the dog you purchased.

Crane Creek Kennels
Hey, I'm human just like everyone else. I try to see the good in people, I guess. I'm trying to add 2 or 3 half decent dogs to the kennel to take the stress off all my dogs that are getting run way too much now that the season's in full swing. I never expected the dog to be as great as he said she was, but I didn't expect a dog that ran automobiles for miles, either - and I didn't expect to be blatantly lied to about the ancestry of the dog. I didn't expect to get the shaft from someone listed in the beagle magazines as in the leadership for multiple beagle clubs in and around Michigan, and someone who supposedly had something to do with the founding of one of the clubs. What I expected was a reasonably fair representation of what the dog was. That didn't happen. Instead I got the big ol' shaft, and frankly I didn't like it.Briarhoppers wrote:Chris -I'm surprised that you paid $600 for a dog you have never seen. You sound farily knowledgeable about hounds and have a lot experience, just find it odd that you made such a mistake.
Come on, Aaron, does anyone think a dog that babbles and runs trucks is anything but a cull?Stony_Branch_Kennels wrote:The main thing I was trying to get at was that everyone has a difference in opinion on what they think is a good dog. I've got an opinion too, but I'll keep it to myself because some children might be reading.Stony_Branch_Kennels wrote:you should be willing to take a screwing! Just my opinion!

I bet you were cussing and laughing at the same time to see that beagle running down the middle of the road....
Also - guess I am surprised that someone who knows you run beagles for a living would send you something so sorry. Is a vehicle considered trash?
I'd ask for a refund plus all expenses....couldn't hurt.
If this guy was really that misleading - and he did originally say there was no Branko up close - and it did take him that long to provide papers - - I wouldn't put much stock in those being legit papers.

Chris, if you have any interest I have several pretty good young hounds I'll sell for considerably less than $600 that will no doubt suit your needs. None of them exceptional but good hunting dogs with no glaring faults. I have (as usual) too many to get the running on them they need and deserve. I'll put them in the woods and you decide a fair price if any of them suit you. I'm not anxious to sell any of them but you'll do right by them I know, and they're lucky to get out once a week as things are currently. Mostly males but a few females available. PS- there's little or no Branko behind these hounds. All have made the cut through two cullings.

Seems Chris took this guy on his "word" and this guy screwed him.Phillip Housden wrote:Sounds like your saying a mans word is not worth much anymore. When you lie that puts you lower than the dog you purchased.
So, as far as most are concerned, that guy's word isn't worth much.

Chris, you are a long ways from Michigan, the internet is a wonderful tool. If I were to be considering buying a high price hound that I wasn't able to see run I would put a feeler out on these site to ask if anyone had anything good or bad to say about the person selling the hound. I know about getting screwed on a hound, but that was before the beagle sites. Now I know someone can feel shafted by a seller but most dealers that have lots of dogs for sale have a reputation one way or the other. Use the imformation that is available to you. Hope this doesn't seem too harsh but in this day and age imformation is available for those that want to use it. Hare

so basically you didn't know how the dog ran " you did not go watch it run" nor did you know the dogs lineage, yet you still bought the dog......... sounds like you need to chalk this up as your mistake. please post the pedigree on here as i am curious to see how "plastered with branko" this dog is.

He said ..No Branko close in pedigree..He didnt say no Branko in pedigree. He also said ..runs well ..he didnt say what it runs. I think after readin your wishes for the last 2 years he pushed your button when he wrote ..can run on snow below zero..you have said many times how you need a dog that will do this consistently....maybe you should wait till it gets below zero to try him again..not funny..The jerk should return some of the mony if not all.

Yeah, it was quite a sight. It was like... "what the..."Briarhoppers wrote:I bet you were cussing and laughing at the same time to see that beagle running down the middle of the road....![]()

I was thinking the same thing. Usually folks figure I'm not the best guy to dump on, but I guess in this case money got in the way of rational thought.Briarhoppers wrote:Also - guess I am surprised that someone who knows you run beagles for a living would send you something so sorry.
Already been done. Certified letter has been mailed.Briarhoppers wrote:I'd ask for a refund plus all expenses....couldn't hurt.
My thoughts exactly. Seems like outright stealing.Briarhoppers wrote:If this guy was really that misleading - and he did originally say there was no Branko up close - and it did take him that long to provide papers - - I wouldn't put much stock in those being legit papers.

Chris,
I'm on your side on this one, simply because I wouldn't be too happy about the pedigree issue either! However in the dog's defence: it may be possible that she's just never been exposed to moving vehicles, and reacted poorly to it. Or maybe the former owner would "road" his dogs? Either way, If the dog runs a decent rabbit, I'm possitive you could brake her from chasing trash, I mean cars! LOL.

Failure to prepare, is preparing to fail.
