I have never noticed a problem with the tone being too loud. My collar is newer than some ,but may not be the loudest.

LOL if you get a pack of beagles to come running back to you because they heard a tone, let me know

I have the beagler so I don't have a tone button.

I usually tap them on #2 and yell getera$$overhere.

They usually have it down after a couple trips.LOL

I have both the Tritronics Classic 70 and my new Dogtra 4 dog unit and personaly prefer the Dogtra. My Classic 70 was an is an excellent unit but I hated having to change (and lose) all those freaking contact points. I realize you now can leave the same ones in and adjust from the transmitter but it just left a bad taste in my mouth when I had to keep buying replacement plugs because I would lose them. The Dogtra is much smaller all around, easier to carry (for me anyway) and the collar recievers are smaller. The quality is excellent and I have put it to the test a few times with exceptional results. So far it performs with the same quality it apears to have. I only hope that when it comes to service in the event I need it they are as good as Tritronics because in that department it will be a tough bar to hurdle.

I have the Classic 70 3 dog unit and I have never had a problem with all my dogs coming when I tone one. I like Tri-Tronics.

Ricko, It depends on how collar sesitive each dog is. I have some that come when I use the tone on another dog but they also come when I'm calling other dogs in. Other dogs don't come until I call or tone them.

Get with Randy Vanosdale. He has a real good special going this February on his tri-tronic collars. It's not his fault that he runs Patch dogs, just overlook that.
I'm teasing ya Randy, so don't start busting my chops. ;)

I almost forgot...he goes by Jumpdog1 on this site and has Loudon Ridge Pache kennels. I think he is advertising his collars on the Trading Post on this site.

Ricko,
The older models of the Classic 70 (like mine) required the contact points that administer the correction to the hounds neck that needed to be changed to make the correction stronger or less intense. Mine is about 6 years old I guess by now. The newer model lets you adjust intensity level of the correction form the transmitter by simply turning up or down the setting knob. It is a far superior setup from what mine is.
