"Trashproof," who's trash?
One man's trash is another mans dinner. It seems to me impossible to breed human opinion into a hound, it's genetics are telling it to trail/run scent and that's all. We decide what scents are acceptable from day one and build on it from then on. I can't believe a bitch or stud can gentically tell it's offspring that it's future owner only wants to hunt hare or fox or deer or whatever. JMHO :D

That's not entirely true. Most pups will trail almost anything that will leave a track at an early stage of development. However, as they gain experience they normally quit trailing rats, voles, birds, and squirrels. Some quit, naturally, running fox and deer.
I don't know if it is possible to breed a trash free line because too many beaglers have varying opinions of what is trash. I suspect that if each Trial governing body would put a penalty of once the dog runs trash in competition that it would be banned from further competion for one year there would be a lot of emphasis on finding out.

I've got a couple of bitches that have never ran deer and they have had ample opportunity. One is about six years of age. I don't remember if she ever ran one as a pup and I scolded er or not. I only know that while hunting or runing her in the off season she never. I had them out with other dogs that jumped a deer and ran it out of the country yet they staid and continued to look for rabbits.

You didn't say what the breeding was on these bitches that haven't run a deer but I would imagine for your two there would be numerous posts from folks that have their ancestors in their pedigree that were deer burners.
