Field Trial Scoring !!!

Post by Tri-Power »

I'm also new to this type of hunting and was curious as to how the scoring takes place. Yesterday i went to a UKC trial. I called Stan Collins in Ava and he suggested i come over and go along to watch a cast and i did and i would encourage you to do the same. Most will take you and show you the ropes. The wife and i had more than one cast invite us to go with them. I haven't figured out if it was my looks or hers??? I was even ask to handle a dog for a feller next week. Told them if we came we would bring our own dog. The wife has sunk her teeth into this rabbit dog thing clean to the bone. I'll pick up her trial dog this afternoon.
Don't know about other events but UKC has the rules and scoring info on the back of the score sheet. Very easy to see and understand. You owe it to yourself to go to one and tag along. Just follow the judge and he will explain it to you as you go. Lots of fun.
