Congrats on a good day. We went out that same day with three dogs and had a hard time getting one. The bunnies seemed to be holding very tight. I had my six month old pup out, and she did very well, but I think the very cold temps. made it hard for her to scent. We were in Carroll county on private land. Where did you hunt.

Ohiohunter, I'm sorry you had a tough time, but I'm glad it wasn't a good day. I live in Carroll County and hunt there a lot too. I didn't get to go out last Saturday because of prior plans and the day looked like it should have been a good one. I was hating it too! I don't feel so bad about it now. The only thing is that I don't know for sure when I'll get to go again. I only have the weekends and it looks like I'll be busy till after New Years. Maybe I can hit it every week end after that. Good luck to you. Dan

My husband and father-in-law made it out last Saturday too, here in Columbiana County. They said it was the best running they'd had all year, they killed 3 and ran another 4 in 3 hours. I know they're heading out this weekend too so hopefully the lovely freezing rain will be finished by then!

MARR24 I didn't know there were this many people close around here that are on this board. I guess you learn something new everyday. Well good luck to your husband and father-in-law. Like I said above, I'm not going to get to go for awhile, so someone might as well enjoy. The last time I got to go out was Thanksgiving morning and if you remember the weather was terrible. It was snowing and the wind was blowing and the dogs couldn't run a track if their lives depended on it. At least mine couldn't. Dan

We got 14 in 3 hours Sunday. Dan you better get out while the running is still good, January can be very unforgiving.

To Ohiohunter., We were hunting some private land near the stark and carroll county line, we are going again saturday to another private place not too far from where we were at last weekend. Hope we have the same luck. I have a female who is directly out of tank and a male who is out of ali-baba,blue ninja, striker and some others. My brother has a female who is a litter mate to my male, they pack well. Fast dogs. Well good luck hope you can make it out.

Thanksgiving was a terrible day, our family always has a big traditional hunt in the morning but it was pretty awful this year. The dogs worked hard but only got one rabbit going and it ran straight for the hole. I'm hoping tomorrow will be a little better than today, the snow is very crusty. Good luck to all, I guess northeast Ohio is well represented!

Those are not lake affect counties. You would probably have bare ground to a couple inches. Temps in January will probably be in the 20's but don't hold me to it weather changes fast in around this part of the country. :( :( :(

To ohio hunters,.. We shot four today (12-17-05) our dogs struggled for the most part, hard crusty snow made the going rough. I'm begining to think maybe it's better to wait until late morning, early afternoon after it starts to warm up instead of getting up and out shortly after sunrise. Give the snow a chance to soften up. And yes I agree, it looks like northeast ohio is well represented, good to see.

Glad to see some of you had luck on Saturday. I took my female out at around 10:30am, and we couldn't find anything. All of the tracks I saw were old. I had high hopes because the sun was out and the southern facing hillsides were very warm. Maybe next weekend.

I went out this morning to run the dogs, took my older male and an 8 month old pup. In two hours they ran 4 and I got to see three, but the runs were pretty short, I'm sure the hard crusty snow didn't help any!
